Yep.

I'm not a Berrios fan but damn that guy was electric only to get pulled for a lesser talent. Those that rely too much on the eye test or too much on the Analytics department are not putting their tools to the best use. You should use AI to confirm your thought process, you shouldn't let AI determine your thought process.

Out of curiosity does anyone have stats for Kikuchi with runners on base?

Kikuchi was very good with runners on base this season. Even better with runners in scoring position.

Like Atkins said in his presser, the decision might’ve been unique, but if you told me before the game that the team would only give up 2 runs, then you’d have (or should have) high expectations of a win.

Felt like the questions were all geared to the Berrios decision and nobody was asking about offseason strategy, improving the offence and organizational needs. Not like Atkins can really specify who he’s targeting but he pretty much made it known in his last answer that KK, Chappy, Whit are all gone.

The guy who year after year preaches collective decision making gets in front of the cameras and pushes the manager under bus saying it was his choice and only his choice. That’s a gutless response from Ross.

EDIT: On a Saturday of a long weekend nevertheless. Not a good look. If you’re in ownership and see this, is this the type of leadership you want? Just not a good look from Ross.

Not surprising, talk of a locker room divide, lack of production, changes need to obviously be made. Those guys gave me a bit of a "Deliverance" vibe. I never got the impression they enjoyed playing ball together.

Could you imagine if tomorrow Schneider announces he’s stepping down after this Atkins presser.

I don’t think Atkins deflected from total blame. He said it’s his job to make the team better (citing offensive struggles) and he failed to meet the high expectations that were set from last year. He personally owned up to his belief that the offence would rebound all year long and that he now can’t justify that belief and needs to find a way to improve on that front.

The doublespeak around the Berrios situation gave hints that the front office provides the tools and it is the manager’s final decision on plays. I think he was wrong to say that they don’t directly influence plays since they’re the ones providing the data, and to say he was surprised but understanding of the call implies that he (and the org) can justify the play based on data they have tracked. They weren’t going to get anything else out of him but I also didn’t see Atkins publicly criticizing Schneider for the play. The “throwing under the bus” is the media’s portrayal because they believe that was the crux of the matter while Atkins was emphasizing the lack of offence.

And that was it on Manoah? Nothing? Why didn’t he report to Buffalo? Nothing? SMH.

Ross acting like he’s running for public office. The Toronto media is going to declare war on Ross and rightfully so.

Blame the reporters for not asking the right questions. They were so enamoured with the Berrios situation that they wasted everyone’s time trying to pull an answer they weren’t going to get.

Yeah you are. so is everyone here, lol.
I admit I will watch on tv but promise not to attend a single game (I usually attend a half dozen games a season) cause I’m a Jays fan since I attended their opening game in 1977. Only when avg attendance dips below an avg of 18 000 will ownership get rid of Shatkins.

It’s not a good sign when the press doesn’t believe the story the gm is putting out there

While rolling the bus over him at the same time lmao

If this is even remotely true he should be fired on that call alone. I don’t trust it was his decision but whoever made it should not be back. No consequences for that decision is unacceptable. Looks like I won’t be watching next year. Also it wasn’t a brave call it was a horrible call to pull Berrios. I’d feel the same even if Kikuchi had a clean inning
