Presidents and GMs get paid the big bucks to have the kind of evaluations and foresight I can't from my couch, so they have to own it, but Berrios falling off a cliff is almost unbelievable. As reliable a pitcher as you could imagine for 5 consecutive seasons. ERA between 3.58 and 4.00 the entire time. A mess, since.

Getting rid of lazy clowns like Teo and Lourdes isn’t messing with chemistry.
Maybe, but they were still productive assets. I feel like Gurriel could’ve been utilized better than as a throw in to the Varsho deal.

Also, I think it’s understated how management keeping Montoyo on for as long as they did contributed to the lack of professional development in some of these players. Guy never taught his players how to be professionals.

Overall statistically last year he was a mess, but again it wasn't in the normal way.

In his best 22 starts his numbers were basically on par with Manoah and Gausman or any good pitcher. But in their 10 worst starts those guys had an ERA of like 5.00 or 6.00 or whatever and in Berrios' worst 10 starts he had an ERA of something like 20.00.

His bad starts have just been inordinately bad. It's really, really weird especially because the velocity and the control seems totally fine.

Bassit and Berrios will probably be fine for regular season. With the rule changes I'm thinking scoring will be significantly up this year and a 4-4.5 era could probably get it done as mid rotation guys. I'm more concerned about having a good enough #3 and #4 pitcher to go up against Houston, Tampa, NY etc in the playoffs if we can get their.
This team isn’t making the playoffs.

My enduring Charlie memory will always be him putting the home run jacket on players like he was the backup 2B instead of the freaking manager.

Good Scouting and the inability to adapt on the part of Berrios.
This is where the blue jays pitching coaches need to have some accountability.

This isn't football. 1-3 isn't end of the world and people shouldn't be overreacting to small sample sizes. Jays could go on a 7 game winning streak in the blink of an eye and everyone praising how good an offense we have. Baseball is a game of ebbs and flows.

sure With Bassitt, Berrios and Kikuchi leading the way I’m sure a 7 game winning streak is just around the corner.

Belt is the one bat I'm legitimately worried about given his age and already huge decline in numbers last year.

You seem to think he is tipping his pitches but to me he just looks incredibly fragile. He simply can’t overcome any adversity on the mound

Kikuchi to me looks fragile. Something goes wrong and then he can’t hit the strike zone.

Berrios always worked quickly (even before the clock) and throws strikes. I don’t see a huge difference in what he’s doing between when he’s doing well and when he’s not.

He looks incredibly uncomfortable it’s bizarre

He’s old. There aren’t many effective age 35+ hitters in today’s MLB.
