If this board crashes tonight, where do people go to talk about the Habs?
How are the draft picks high end if they're 31 and 37 and we picked up a 22-year old who was taken at 16 and is in the NHL and developing according to plan?
Newhook is now the fastest forward on our team, has plenty of untapped offensive upside and plays with a lot of jam. He's on the verge of breaking out with more opportunity on a team that isn't fighting for playoff positioning.
Would Wood be a better option than Reinbacher if they traded down to say 8th and both were still there. I think the Habs would likely lean more for need there and take the RHD.
It's crazy this year on this Michkov. Are the concerns valid ? Are the concerns overblown due to group think ? Has a very simple and obvious selection been made complicated ? Blah blah. And on the flipside of that. I wonder if the rumored 5 offers the Habs apparently have on the table from teams looking to move up to 5th want to get there to take Michkov if he's there.
It should be obvious. I want the BPA.
Hate at Strickland, not me....
I recognize the color schme from SIA LOL. Ran draft odds for 3 years in a row there. Unfortunately the company was sold and moving towards fully automated so we all lost our jobs. Sad
Believe it or not I am aware, perhaps if you read my posts on the trade, you’d be aware that I also think we have far too many of the same type of player, I.e. the small, speedy forward, that we gave up too much on simply hoping his potential is unlocked by MSL (because it’s not always going to happen), and that I would have preferred simply keeping the picks. Are you aware of roster limits or have you been ignoring the absolute pile of prospects we’ve accumulated?
In order to claim it’s a fleecing you’d also have to have knowledge on Alex Newhook.
How many games of his have you seen?
Carlsson has mostly played the wing the last two years and many don't see Smith as a center at the NHL level. Having said that, this Habs regime loves versatility up front so I won't be concerned about their playing position. It's crazy this year on this Michkov. Are the concerns valid ? Are the concerns overblown due to group think ? Has a very simple and obvious selection been made complicated ? Blah blah.
I really hope it's taken out of our hands and we have the chance to take Smith or Carlsson. These are projected legit 1Cs and while I agree we could use an elite player like Michkov is thought to be, scoring a 1C is also a huge piece for the team, which would give us one of the deepest top 6C depth in the league.
Whoever the scout Dreger was referring to this morning who said that in his opinion Michkov is the 2nd best player in this draft and if he were a part of the team in a position to draft him he'd be pounding the table for his team to draft him. That guy I want on the Habs scouting team.
Not me I'm not attending and I'm also contacting a number of my friends including @Runner77 and @OldCraig71 to see if these long time contributers are as offended as I am at being lumped in with the "and many others" group.
Seriously?Capitals GM McClellan saying that in particular such storied franchises as Montreal and Philadelphia should stay away from Michkov to not sully the crest on their sweater.
and how do you know that the best way to get that is not to trade down?
The interviews went well.On draftkings Leonard, Michkov and Reinbacher are now all tied, this morning they had Leonard favorite.

But for 2nd overall Michkov went from +3200 to +400, Fantilli is still heavy favorite but that's a massive jump

It was probably his colleague Craig Button. Careful what you wish for.Whoever the scout Dreger was referring to this morning who said that in his opinion Michkov is the 2nd best player in this draft and if he were a part of the team in a position to draft him he'd be pounding the table for his team to draft him. That guy I want on the Habs scouting team.
