So, if Michkov is the second best player in the draft, why would the teams ahead of the habs (except for Chicago) pass on him? And why is that reason not sufficient for the habs to go with someone else?
Don't bother. I've been asking this for months now and no one can answer it proper.

BECAUSE...REASONS.

I posted this earlier:

I know it’s not the same trade and I’m well aware of the age difference. I just don’t see how trading two high end draft pieces makes sense when you’re rebuilding, and I think we paid too much for Newhook and his potential. We’ve been very lucky so far with MSL being able to turn guys around, but it’s not going to happen every time. I hope Newhook works out, but I don’t think the cost is worth the risk, at this point in the rebuilding process.
High end draft pieces??

Look at the Newhook/Dach/CC draft - also a good draft year- in particular, the picks in that 31 to 37 range, or even widen the scope.

For example, the 14 picks from 26 to 39 … those players have averaged 8 career points. 8!!

There’s more than one way to put draft capital to work for you. Hughes took the sure thing and shortened the timeline.

Can't wait for Bettman (after his opening remarks tonight) to say Chicago you're now officially on the clock and the Hawks take every available second on their clock before finally going up and announcing it just because..

Kent Hughes music will hit. Gorton hands him a chair, and smokes the Chicago management from behind.

Habs steal the pick and kidnap bedard.

Is there a certain area of reddit for Habs fans?

You don’t want to go there. If you post anything even slightly critical of the habs you’re met with a downpour downvotes. I made some comments a while back and got absolutely shit on and then never went back.

Apparently calling Gallagher a horrific waste of cap space is controversial there smh.

Shortening the timeline is key. KH wants to compete in 2-3 years. Newhook will enter his prime whereas those prospects would try to turn pro

Wrong. If he continues to limit the hits he makes he probably has 4-5 years left. As opposed to Toffoli who has maybe 2 before he is too slow for the league.
Wrong. Even if a team does want him they won't take the total cap so you're pretty much keeping part of his contract until it expires. And dude gets hurt because of his style. If he doesn't play that like like you're indicating he's useless which leads us back to teams wouldn't want to take on his contract

I think Smith is the guy that Hughes really wants and if by some miracle that did happen (I don't think it will) Hughes would have to go to the stage with his jacket tied around the front of his pants.

Ok say we're getting Leonard/Reinbacher in a trade down to 7... Who do we want at 22nd?

A faller amongst Yager/Honzek/Sale/Musty/Ritchie?

Musty or Yager would be fantastic.. I'd be high on getting Honzek or Sale there but Honzek will go a lot higher than people expect imo

I dont hope that on any player, I hope chicago experiences nothing but pain for there shitty owner but Bedard to be a success
Funny you mention Chicago, I was thinking they could have interest in Dvorak. They have a bevy of 2nd round picks, and he would be going back to his home state. He would be good to insulate Berdard in the event they want to start him on the wing
