He’s right in the sense that we already know 100% that it’s either Carlsson or Michkov or both at 5.Grant McCagg predicted Carlsson falling to 5 on twitter. Also said he thinks Habs trade down. He nailed his predictions last year, but I don’t see both of those things happening, either one or the other.
At this moment Colton fits better in Colorado than Newhook as he can solidify the 3rd line center spot. He doesn't have the upside Newhoom has but the Avs are in win now mode are going to try and go for another cup. Johansen going to a cup contender should be motivated and play better than he did last year.Remains to be seen. They traded away Newhook, who was a 30-point player in the two years he played in the NHL and brought in Ross Colton, who is a 30-point player, but is also 4 years older.
Johansen is the wildcard because he's real good, but the gripe with him is his effort level isn't always there.
Any Czech farmer in this draft?
Listening to the raw knuckles podcast and they are chatting with Mccagg. With out being too offensive and saying what I actually think I will just say it is very puzzling that this guy was ever a pro scout. His draft takes and opinions are horrible, they are bad at the time and they might age even more poorly.
Why did Jagr fall to 5?What I don't get is if Michkov is this good why is he falling to us?
And if 3 teams are that worried about the Russia thing then why shouldn't we?
I'm legit asking. It's just weird to me that he's Bedard level apparently yet he can fall that far.
Not even just his scouting takes, the thing I would find most puzzling would be his interactions with the scouting staff.
He seems like an absolute prick who always thinks he's right and doesn't listen to anyone else's arguments. When he falls in love with a player you'd think he was their father with how defensive he gets when someone offers any criticism.
They really really want Leonard. Teams don’t usually throw themselves to get 5OA. Or maybe Reinbacher?Weighing 5 offers for 5th. Oh boy.
This is a repeat of 2022. So many in here want the player who was a phenom at age 16 and completely ignore all the flaws AND the non-hockey obstacles that go with the kid.
He isn't anywhere close to Bedard level. The teams in front of us all went full tank-mode in hopes of a small percent lottery chance at Bedard. Now these same teams will pass on a player who is Bedard-level just because it will take 3 years to get him? It's crazy how emotions can take over one's common sense. Love is blind.
I'll be totally fine if the Habs take Michkov after doing their due diligence, having a head scout closely connected to his team in Russia, and actually having met and interviewed the kid. I can't imagine living in any alternate reality however where I go into complete denial mode about the situation at play and lose my shit if they don't take him. That's just being emotionally messed up in the head and in desperate need of therapy.
He is loyal I will give him that. Still dying on the Mcleod and KK hill even though they are both clearly horrible. I guess he had to cut his losses with the McCarron love though. Just a puzzling eye for hockey talent. Not even just his scouting takes, the thing I would find most puzzling would be his interactions with the scouting staff.

7 and 22 is a no brainer for Brière to get to 5. If he sniffs that we might pass he just needs to stay put. No way Arizona would get Michkov to go play in an arena in the middle of the desert that’s 2x smaller than the Barys Astana rink in Kazakhstan.
Sources say the Canadiens have placed at least one call to the Sharks to inquire about swapping slots, but the belief is Sharks GM Mike Grier was unwavering in his desire to keep the pick. If the Habs have their sights set on one player in particular and he is taken, it’s possible to see the Canadiens pivot and slide a little further down to get their hands on another player while collecting some additional value in the meantime.
