Meier Nico Mercer
Bratt Jack Holtz

Theoretically.
No thanks, id sooner put the ghost of Colin White next to Jack and Bratt. Thatd be the worst defensive line in hockey

Holtz is cooked here. Not like hes any good anyway, dudes nothing but a shot

I`m okay to trade him, more over I`m all in to trade him, but it would not be the problem to have him in top-6 with Meier if he will pan out

Btw we have another option - Meier Nico Holtz and Bratt Jack Mercer. If Holtz is a one way 30+ goal scorer here, they will figure it out.

But again, I`m good to trade him.

Yea he would come in and replace Tatar given the money we would need to give to Bratt and Meier.
If we will not trade him, so why not.

If Devils will save Holtz, Gritsyuk and Zetterlund in this deal,(and Mercer, Nemec and Luke of course) it would be a home run for this roster. Can`t believe in it and it sounds like wonderland.

I also didnt pay Palat 6m to play my third line and produce at a 30 point oace

Palat needs to be next to Jack and Bratt with Meier next to Nico and Mercer. That should be the top-6 until 2024-2025, then maybe look wt trading Palat

Ok, if you want to find your own version of top-9, you have a luxury to use Nico, Meier, Jack, Bratt, Dawson, Alexander, Palat as your top-6 option for different situations. I believe if you will put Holtz on Haula and Tatar wing - it would help him to figure it out better, than his time with Boqvist or Mcleod.

Holtz is on ELC, his person can easily help to create depth on this roster. Again if he is a price for Meier than Hooray, I`m okay. I prefer to trade him over Zetterlund.

If there is a better option internally for the top 6, you own up to the mistake of signing Palat that much and put him wherever helps the team most. Also having a 3rd line that can produce is key to success.

Exactly why Palat in the top-6 is the only logical and acceptable answer

Palat on your third line not producing well is only hurting it further. Palat is only worth near 6m if hes doing the small things for Jack and Bratt and gathering enough secondary assists to hit 40-45pts a season

Palat on the third with guys like Haula and Tatar would produce 30pts over a whole season

Someday people will learn that NHL teams do not think in terms of a top 6 and bottom 6, that it is clearly top 9 and bottom 3. But until then, we'll just deal with all the takes.
This times 100000000. Does everyone think the Devils saw Elias as a “bottom-6 winger” during their Finals run in 2012?

The team won 7-0 last night and is rolling. They were rolling when Palat was hurt. It does not matter where Palat plays. jfc

Having Palat "forced down" to 3rd line means he can further terrorize weaker defense pairings and provide more clutch offense. Its actually fairly perfect. He will still see PP1 time or at worst PP2 time.

Also, him being there will further legitamize the concept we have 3 strong scoring lines. We can argue whether he may not be worth 6m but he is making the team better and has high real value.

Yea but you are skipping over the point about, IF there is a better option to be in the top 6 you are choosing not to use it based on money. A coach should never look at salaries when putting together a lineup.

underestimation of Palat.

I think teams would love to roll a lineup like that. But it's not easy to put together the talent to do so.

Just look at our team, huge difference between the top 6 and the bottom 6.

Well considering most people are talking about the quality of player when they say top line, 2nd line, bottom-6/top-6, etc.. - it has its distinctions

But you knew that
