It's 8.3 mil per guys with the cap going up pretty significantly. I feel like that's manageable.
It is manageable.

but I also would bank on the cap shooting up given the crisis right now with the regional sports networks. A lot of teams could see their local media rights significantly slashed. The Sinclair Bally’s RSN are heading to bankruptcy, and the AT&T RSN’s have said to teams that they have a month to take back their rights and their plan is to liquidate. That is nearly half the league that could see lost revenue.

My dogs keep giving me the stink eye because I won't take them for a walk since the deal might be going down soon.

It's really not. Gaudreau was going to sign with us against his will until the last minute. Tkachuk and Fiala were only signing in one place and DeBrincat was said to test the UFA market in 1 year. Hard to blame Fitz here.
I think Thachuk had two or three spots he would have upped with it's just that none of them were here.

But I mean we did get Hamilton as far as 'sexy adds' and Vanecek/Marino as unsexy adds, it's not as if Fitz is sitting on his hands even after some swings and misses of big fish.

I love Zetterlund and what he brings, but if they have to include him to get Meier than sign me up. We can’t just hoard all the players we like.

I mean we can give then other good pieces. They don't want them and we have to include Zetterlund in a big package then at that point it's not worth it.

If you commit 18M+ to Meier and Bratt, you're very little funds to spend on the depth, we will basically have to maneuver like Toronto for the rest of our contention window. If we do acquire Meier, I'd re-sign him for 8.5M/8 max (if he doesn't want, I stay out of the deal) and if Meier is indeed signed, I lowball Bratt (forcing him around 7M, if not, I trade him away). You can't sign two wingers to YOLO deals, not to mention that some cheap players or picks would likely be gone in the Meier deal, you're not getting him for free from SJ.
I believe Tatar, Yegor\Zetterlund and our ELC players will not eat much.

BTW team with Hughes, Nico, Meier, Mercer and Bratt should be very attractive for older players who wants to win cup and sign for food. It`s our time to cheat on "Spezza`s"

Toronto is a good team. They were somewhere not ready, somewhere not lucky to play against Tampa in the first round, somewhere Campbell ruined them.
It`s ok to have 4 great players and put good vets on their lines.

I made the same point in the last team thread somewhere. It's no longer a given that the cap will be shooting up in a year or two.

Even if Tkachuk did want to come here it's pretty irrelevant. We had no chance of getting him. Calgary wanted to stay competitive. Where is our 115 pt player and a 1D to offer?

Yost tweet is just a writer writing. They are not in the running, but BUF checked in weeks ago. They're looking to add considering they're in WILD wild card race.
