That's actually a positive. Basically gives you a solid, NHL proven depth forward for the next 3 seasons so you don't have to continually spend each deadline for a depth piece.

Signed for three years doesn't matter, you can bury his entire cap hit in Utica if he sucks.

Lazar is actually a really decent defensive forward, doesn't produce much but not a bad depth piece to have.
