I have no issue giving Hughes some run in the playoffs, I do question who a good fit for his pairing is. I don't want him to get Marino's matchups (plus that puts Graves with Severson which has been Severson's worst partner this year by far), his skillset is pretty redundant with either of Severson and Hamilton, and he's not playing on the right over any of those guys either.

There’s a decent chance that Luke steps on the ice day 1 as the best LD on the team. We’re overthinking it. He’ll step in for Graves or he’ll step in for Bahl. If he shows he’s not ready, he’ll sit but I really don’t expect that.

I could honestly see us going with 7 D if we want to get him in with everyone healthy, then if guys are injured that kind of makes your decisions for you. Otherwise, it's probably Severson which could be an incredible even strength pairing but it might depend on which forwards they end up out with.

That’s really unnecessary. The staff could shelter Luke if they want, since none of our other defensemen need to be sheltered. But I don’t think even that will be needed.

Nate as well would be gone even though he's the best guy on the line.
I think it may be a strategy. Like in the movies even the terrorists threaten someone else to get someone to do something. "You don't want to be responsible for their death, do you?"

Meanwhile ruff goes to miles like, "Woody, you don't want to be responsible for Nate not playing, do you? Then I think you need to play better, because if you don't, something unfortunate may happen to his playing time"

I think we're pretty significantly better both on paper and on the ice. Rangers roster is overrated due to names. Without a big bounceback from Kane he's not all that impactful. Tarasenko's not as good as his name. Panarin's still really good but he's not what he was a few years ago. Trouba's not his name. Fox is incredible but I much much prefer our D core. Igor going full Igor would be huge. Outside of that we're a lot better.
I dont know how to explain this. I feel like the Rangers top 6 has extreme skill and need less chances to score. I have a feeling that theyre gonna score at a higher rate, but were gonna control the play more. Thats what I somehow imagine this series to go. We control the play all period, Rangers score on 1 of their 2 chances. I think thats when it really comes down to goaltending. Vitek is gonna need to be able to make those timely saves.

Thats what I love about Meier. We need more people who can end those good rushes or cycles with a goal.

Like Obi Wan Kenobi when Alderaan was destroyed, I just have this feeling Yegor is getting traded today.

Poor foolishness. Miller has value, but turning down an offer of high picks for him is nuts. And given the rumors that he was the reason for the locker room issues there, they should have been looking to move him as soon as possible.
Seriously and they're kind of in a rebuild there, that's what you normally do, take the picks and run. They could have spent that money in the summer

I can't see us wanting to give a guy who isn't even all that special in the AHL a good run for the 3C. Teams like Vancouver and Chicago where there's no stakes makes a lot more
I think it could be a shrewd move if he's not overly expensive to acquire and it allows you to spend some cap elsewhere. Look at what Florida has done over the past couple of seasons taking chances on players who were falling out of favor elsewhere and turning them into impact pieces or role players. Look at what the Avalanche did with Nichushkin developing him into an impact player after his tumultuous runs with Dallas.

I’m only worried about this if the devils revert back to the unforced errors of giving away multiple odd man rushes/breakaway or leaving opponents literally completely untouched in the slot, which we’ve seen them do for stretches still this season.

I feel like that’s basically the only recipe the rangers have for beating the devils. And it will be more about the devils beating themselves than anything else.

if shara is getting traded (love guy, hope not), we better be getting assets + middle 6 support

i can't imagine us being made to get weaker without someone adding more
Well with the BMW line looking actually pretty good again, I just think about the only place (forwards) that could be upgraded... and I am thinking it's a winger upgrade on the third line.

I wouldn't count on the BMW line keeping this up. If we are trading for a forward, I want someone who will push Wood out of the lineup, not Shara.

Nuke was already an elite defensive forward in Dallas so you were still adding a legitimate NHLer to the lineup. Where are you spending the cap elsewhere? Are you saying to just not add a 3C and instead roll with Turcotte? I think best case would be you pick up Turcotte rather than a 4LW. Sure that maybe ends up working out but I just don't really think Turcotte would have the opportunity to flourish here.

Don't want to see us make any more minor moves. We moved enough picks for the Meier trade.

A good to decent depth forward for a mid round pick is a fine add.

What about Boeser? Would cost Yegor and a pick to get Vancouver to retain 50% probably. Palat-Haula-Boeser third line.

No. Boeser even half retained rules out Tatar going forward. No interest in that. If he was a rental then mayyyyyybe I take a stab. I'm not taking him with term. Palat and Tatar are both better options for a final top 6 spot going forward and I'd rather give Holtz a shot to be Boeser than pay Boeser 3.5ish to be Boeser.

Wasn’t there some talk that the Devils had interest in Connor Garland in the past?

Would Sharangovich and pick/prospect for Garland with salary retention make sense for adding some cost certainty to the forwards? I’m not sure Vancouver would care to use one of their retentions for such a minor deal though.
