I can get on board with Bjugstad. Wouldn't cost much or sacrifice anything, gives us some C depth, size and a RHS that we can likely afford. Could even split Bratt and Jack and look real deep.

Tatar Nico Mercer
Haula Hughes Meier
Palat Bjugstad Bratt
Yegor McLeod Bastian

Wood + Boqvist

I do like the idea of splitting Bratt and Jack more and more once Meier is playing.

That first line is cooking so leave it. But then have Jack+ Meier and Bratt+Patat is big time depth.

Sorry to tell you Wood wouldnt be the scratch here Yegor probably would be.

As for Bjugstad I guess if thats the best options then ok, but he's pretty slow and plays soft if i recall correctly. Doesnt really fit the speed of this team or add the grit that Fitz mentioned.

It was kinda hilarious. Lou lost Tavares to TOR and during the same free agency acquired Martin from the Leafs and signed former Leaf Komarov. It obviously had nothing to do with the Tavares signing, but in hindsight it felt like the teams swapped those players.

Oh well Martin and Komarov sure have gotten much closer to Cup than Tavares since.
So why we cant trade Keller for Martin and Cizikas?

I was kind of thinking the opposite... keep Jack with Bratt and play Meier with Palat. Give each volume shooter his own line.

We'll see if Quick has any gas left. I don't think Vegas is expecting him to be the playoff starter or anything. Logan Thompson has been out three weeks and I haven't seen any time table for his return. Laurent Broissoit got put on IR a couple days ago.

It'll be a narrow margin about having home ice in the first/second rounds for Vegas, so every point can help. Maybe they didn't want to sacrifice a higher pick to get somebody like James Reimer?

"See, Mr. Lamoriello.. the moment you were fired, your former employer decided to buyout those deals"

"So theyre free agents now, is that what youre saying water boy?"

"Uhm.. Yes, sir but the owners have a certain cap they dont wa.."

"Dont you worry about my cap, son! Now tell me. Where's your fax machine?"

I’m embarrassed that this league that has had multiple sexual assault scandals, drafted kids that bullied other kids in horrific ways, thumbed their nose at the LGBTQ community, and done essentially nothing to remove dirty, debilitating hits from the game has a franchise that is struggling financially.
Don't worry.

the league at least lets us GAMBLE.

'Cause you know.....Priorities, right?

Definitely, I'm not sure if Bjugstad is the best fit but he has great defensive metrics and the cost + price should be feasible. Barring some more Fitz magic I think our options for a 3c is pretty slim. We could just put Haula there but if we stick with the idea of splitting Jack and Bratt once Meier arrives I think we'll need an upgrade on Boqvist.

Edit: lmao enjoy Edmonton!

They’re becoming a completely new organization under Armstrong.

The process is very early considering they completely missed out on the very good 2020 draft due to having no picks in the first 3 rounds.

They had one 1st round pick in 2021, the #9 (Guenther), three 2nds and no 3rds.

The 2022 draft was a big haul but it might be a weaker draft. So this draft will be huge for them.

If they get a great player with their 1st plus keep building prospects they can really have something in a few years. The plan is to have a young great team in a new arena in Tempe.

The Coyotes have never had a 1OA or 2OA pick.

If they don’t get a new arena deal then the team actually has to move.

I don’t have affection for Coyotes or think their owner is gem but people are ridiculous about the team. Plenty of people thought we didn’t deserve a team either due to our attendance.

I don’t throw stones with this shit, ever. Feels gross. I legit thought the team was a goner at points in the early 1990s and doing that to other fans is something I don’t do.

Wow. This is so weird.
Right point. I saw a lot from other fans and from hockey "smarts" like Dangle and his vassals talk sh1t about our team. Mister hockey Bissonette told a lot about our development and the team and players. We attracted a lot of sh1t, even from our own fan base. But people(some people) understand the process. I am not a fna of Coyotes process, I understand that Chayka ruined their organisation a lot. The fish rots from the head.

And even I was not a fan of Cooley pick as a choice for devils organisation, I think Arizona made the right choice in the moment for their organisation. Now they have to walk through the rain of shame. I think they should draft other player in their first round year ago instead Geekie. I really hope they will handle it, because they are literally under sh1tstorm from nhl fanbase. May be they deserved the part of it, but as a Devil fan, the team, that was managed badly in the later Lou period, that was managed badly under Shero, but was lucky to win two lotteries, I cant to not empathize to them. I feel sorry for the organization, this whole story is very difficult and sad, and I hope they can get out.

And I like Armstrong. He looks like a stylish villian. One day we will all pay for our slander against them.

Hope Arizona will stay on the course)

I like their cubic logo, one of the best in NHL. They should stay at least because of that. And their success story will become the greatest redemption story in hockey.

Lou swore off fax machines after the Lemieux problem.

My other favorite NHL fax machine stories:

Tampa Bay was trying to trade RFA Chris Gratton in the summer of 1997. I think his agent had let Tampa know that they were considering an offer sheet. At the time, Tampa was still owned by some mystery Japanese consortium which may or may not have been a front for the Yakuza.

Tampa GM Phil Esposito knew they didn't have the financial resources to match an offer sheet but he also didn't want draft picks in return. He feverishly worked on a deal to send Gratton to Chicago for some NHL bodies. But then the signed offer sheet came via fax.

Esposito knew it was a long shot, but he tried to claim that the fax was smudged and therefore not legal. Then he tried to submit his trade with Chicago (as per CBA rules, you can't match an offer sheet and trade the player for a year).

I think it went before an arbitrator who ruled that the offer sheet was valid. Tampa got back four 1st rounders for Gratton but traded those back to Philadelphia for Mikael Renberg and Karl Dykhuis. Esposito makes a dubious claim in his autobiography that the second deal was negotiated over his head.

------------

Boston drafted Kyle Wanvig in the 3rd round in 1999. He'd have a huge WHL season in 2000-01. Wanvig wanted a large signing bonus since he had the leverage to go back into the draft where he might go in the 1st round.

Boston made a last minute deal to send him to Toronto for veteran winger Jonas Hoglund. They thought they beat the deadline by 30 minutes, but Wanvig's agent had problems with their fax machine. Wanvig's signed contract was sent to the league five minutes after the deadline, so the trade got nixed.

Wanvig would re-enter the draft and get taken #36 by Minnesota. He didn't pan out, otherwise that would have been a fun "LOL Toronto" moment.

He might have another good game or two left, literally, if even that many,

He's EBUG level at this point.

He's on his back or belly more often than not. Leaves nets completely open, where it makes it look like he has no chance on the goal, but he really does.

He's the most washed up goalie I've seen in a very long time. Rask looked pretty bad last year for 5 games after his comeback from surgery and Price did too, but this has gone on for much longer with Quick.

I actually didn't realize Brossoit was hurt. He played the entire game and shootout the other night and then I see he ended up on IR.

Is Quick the second greatest goalie in Blue Jackets history after Bobrovsky? lol

I can't think of too many good goalies they've had, other than Bob and one year of rookie Steve Mason and a couple solid years of Marc Denis.

Marc Denis could have potentially been the heir to Roy in Colorado, but he wound up going to expansion Columbus and he had one pretty good year there and a couple of other okay years, but he fell apart at a fairly young age and got worse after he got away from Columbus. Think he was beaten up and broken down from a couple of those seasons where he played a ton. He played 77 games in 02-03, which was even before Brodeur ever had a single 77 game season, which he would wind up doing 3 times after that.

Oh god, he almost looks like John Chayka if you gave Chayka a 20 year age progression lol.

I didn't really know what he looked like and I saw that and the Coyotes logo and thought it was Chayka, before realizing ''Damn! Chayka never looked anywhere near that old?''.
