I disagree. If you’re a UFA on an expiring contract, you should ALWAYS be aware you could be traded at the deadline (especially a guy with no NTC). Especially a vet that’s been around as long as Quick. Carter was different because he just signed an 11 year deal with Philly so I didn’t blame him for being a dbag when he was sent here. Quick knows better and I guarantee the possibility had at least been floated to him by management this season.
Fair enough, but to me Quick clearly belongs in that group of players who've earned the right from their franchise to go out on their terms (to a degree), not like this. That doesn't mean he'd be justified in being a dbag towards CBJ but I've yet to see that happen, he's just a guy who just experienced his first trade ever as 37-yo SC champ who's played his whole career for one team, of course he's going to be pissed off.
EDIT: CBJ is part of the situation but it's not their doing, so if I were Jarmo I'd be very respectful in the situation and if he does that, then Quick has absolutely no reason to have any ill will towards CBJ. If he does regardless, then that's his problem. Let him know that they are listening to his wishes and will ship him out to a playoff team if that's what he wants and there's a deal to be made - if not, let him know they'd love to have his experience in the room and value whatever he feels like he could bring to a young team in a middle of rebuild. Show him the respect LAK didn't and if he's a stand up guy, maybe you get something of value out of him, whatever that ends up being.
