Quebec has needed to change its development system for some time now. I recall reading about some of the issues a few years back, not sure if they remain. Don't know the relevance of comparing it to Finland, which only started producing elite players in noteworthy quantity very recently, but yes things can improve. Ontario has certainly cooled off from where it was as well, which isn't to say that Ontario is doing poorly but it was producing tremendous players in large amounts for quite some time. A few years back Hockey Canada made changes to playing some youth hockey across the width of the ice rather than the length, though I'm not sure how widely that has been implemented. There is definite room for improvement in Canada, though I won't hold out much hope for significant changes until Canada loses a best on best or two. What hurts the most is that Quebec doesn’t seem to improve. Actually going backwards or that there is no respect for the Q
Finland has less people then Quebec but produce way better players. There is something that Quebec is doing wrong. They need to change. At one point Quebec used to have the best goalies , they can’t even do that right.
I think the system in Quebec needs an overhaul there are less and less Quebecers in the nhl
I'm very curious to see what the team does with draft eligible players. Looks like a strong draft upcoming for Canada. Bedard is a given, Fantilli deserves a fair look(and it helps that he is a 2004), a guy like Yager probably at least gets a camp invitation.
