Give your head a shake, buddy. Proportionality. Hockey Canada is pretty bad, but comparing a "bro-code" hockey organization to a murderous system (150k-200k deaths and counting, this year) that is quickly raising its status as large-scale evil-doers (not 2 generations ago, now) is absolutely ridiculous. Anything connected to the Russian state is the enemy of your way of life, if that's not enough for you, not sure what is (you can chat about hockey because guys like me defend dumbass like you).

Russian hockey players are financed by the same oligarchs who are at the very base of Putin's power, it's not like they are saints. They could/should refuse to play if they wanted a change... the greatest enemy of a regime like Putin's is dissolving social order.

We need to fix hockey Canada, we know what is right and wrong. We know the difference...
Listen, if you want to justify that what hockey Canada Did is “not bad enough” and that “what Russia did was way worse” in order to say that Canada shouldn’t be suspended, then you live with that. For me , I think both are passed the line of what’s acceptable.

And for you to say that 6 players raping a girl is just “brocode” ….yea, maybe reevaluate your stance on this one.

I was 100% expecting you to make false accusations, stop being so weak. One does not have to repeat every single time their stance with hockey Canada....grow up? We all know what needs to be done and what the higher-level culture that generates the places for bad stuff to happen is.

You just compared the mass rape of at least hundreds, 150k deaths, and the destruction of half a country, with allegations, covered up by corrupted bureaucrats. Stop virtue signalling, you are being ridiculous.

Go after the guilty, in the case of hockey Canada we know WHO that is (individuals).
In the case of Russia, it's the state, it can't be held accountable unless a conflict is won.

If you could point at individuals in the Russian teams, they would not be banned. They are banned because the state is the aggressor. But no, right, let's do the woke thing and try to atone for sins by sacrificing everyone. We are all guilty, no more justice system! Recursively getting your own society to where the Russians are ain't the solution, obviously.

I actually didn’t compare the 2. If you read what I said, I said that although they are different, I still don’t think what hockey Canada did was okay and that BOTH should warrant a suspension.

Please pay attention to details. It’s very hard having a conversation with someone who doesn’t even read what the other person says.

I know you’re a fan and you want to see team Canada win, I understand that. Me too….but it doesn’t make what the governing body of the sport in Canada did okay.

So Russian players pay for what their government did.
But Canadian players don’t pay for what hockey Canada did and also what other Canadian players did.

Have my power and internet back, checking out the situation here. I had the chance to purchase Moncton tickets apparently, no interest in that. A few players made their NHL rosters, no huge surprises. Even if all of the players who made the NHL rosters stick, which I wouldn't bet on, it should still be a strong team.

Also typical to see posters pretending that they know what happened regarding the allegations against various hockey players when in fact they do not know what happened at all. But I do encourage the posters who in fact know what happened, based on how confidently they speak, to take a break from moralizing and pretending online and call the police and tell them. Since they already filed no charges after an investigation and are apparently investigating again, they probably could use the help of HFBoards sleuths. It looks like Hockey Canada will drastically alter things due to sponsor pressure, which stems from the Globe story of seemingly nothing new, but whether that is a positive or a negative remains to be seen.

I also didn't realize that Stankoven has been sent down. He was expected to get sent down but it's still a big add for the team since he's already proven as a good top six centre at this level.

I don't pretend to know what anyone did until proof becomes apparent and yes I DO KNOW what Russia is doing.

Regardless, there seems to be a lot of smoke signals coming out these days and that usually means fire. Now even if there was never any rape committed and it was just sexual hi jinks between willing parties involving many males and one female or whatever, I still consider that unbecoming sexual behaviour by members of a team and federation that represents this country and call me old fashioned but it doesn't sit well with me, especially if there is some use of funds to hush people up about that kind of behaviour that is being engaged in. I certainly wouldn't be happy if it was my son engaged in that stuff and I think I am far from being a prude.

There has to be some standards here, and yes I am willing to wait how this all sorts itself out ( I don't form my opinions by what the internet says I should/must form my opinions by just because it's the in thing to do) but if this smoke does turn into fire, I want heads to roll and to clean this shit up.

I should think any Canadian person/fan of this program would want and expect nothing less. This whole situation is serious, we will see just how serious it is .

Getting a sense again that politics and this pseudo-mob looking for heads at HC (justified or not) will ruin what's left of this tournament. Sponsors pulling out, no Russia to begin with, the Premier of Nova Scotia seemingly willing to cancel the event.

Really depressing that this is happening. I think we are getting to the point of overreacting (again, my opinion) on how society is not focusing on those actually accused of wrongdoing.

This tournament is my favourite hockey of the year, bar-none. It's an integral part of the holiday season in Canada and I can't imagine Christmas without it.

I am honestly waiting for someone at Bell/TSN to release some jargon and a buzzword filled statement explaining that no matter what anyone does at HC, or elsewhere, that it would be wrong to carry the tournament and without saying it, need to punish this years players and fans for something they had nothing to do with.

This is just my honest opinion.

I believe TSN has already released a statement on this and confirmed they will still be broadcasting.

If you had told me, in 2019, that we would all live inside for 2 years, the world juniors would be cancelled after a game, the NHL pro's wouldn't go to the Olympics, Russia would be banned from hockey and that Tim's/Canadian Tire/Bauer would stop sponsoring Canada.. I would've called you crazy!

The alternative was taking her to court and challenging the lawsuit. Should Hockey Canada have done that?

Good news, though I must've missed that. Honestly, with how quickly these big companies cave to the slightest bit of pressure I wouldn't be surprised if they changed course at some point.

I don't know what they should do as I don't run that organization. But if there are serious transgressions that have happened I should expect them to be dealt with. and by that I don't mean dealing with them by hush money.

I'm waiting for more info to come out to see exactly where I stand.

i agree but Russian players are paying for the mistakes of their government…not fair for those Russian players either in my opinion.

For what it’s worth, I don’t think any should be suspended, but given Russia was I also think Canada should be too.
Canada is IIHF's biggest money-maker and golden goose.
If IIHF would have any interest to ban Canada for international hockey they would've done it good while ago.
.
And what comes to Russia and their players Russia was banned for political reasons.
Hockey Canada's sexual abuse / sexual harassment scandal is nasty as hell but still
it is not even close for Russia's violent invasion and war in Ukraine

Yes the treatment and rules should be same for all participants.
But i highly doubt that Canada gets banned.

If they don't have equipment or money then it won't happen.

Iam so passed with Hockey Canada for snubbing there nose at everyone.
The were money hungry and forgot about there purpose.
The WJ TOURNAMENT may be canceled this year.

About time.

Like the guys at hockey Canada are good hockey people but they are replaceable. Any schlub on the internet can fill out 90% of the Olympic roster. It’s not like they’ve been infallible at the WJC level either.

If they don't have equipment or money then it won't happen.
We'll see that later.
It would be weird to play U20 WJC's without retaining U20 world champion and tournament host.

Yes Finland's chances to win gold gets better if IIHF bans Canada.
But i wanna see best vs best U20 WJC's without any covid related issues and protocols.
Is it really too much asked for even once?

Ok, enough with this Canada banning talk. It’s NOT going to happen

Let’s get back to line combination please

Canada didn’t invade another country Canada didn’t kill children
Canada didn’t kill woman
Canada didn’t kill the innocent
Russia disruption of energy crisis world wide affecting millions of people

As disgusting as some Canadian players actions were, what the hockey players did and what Russia has done is not even on the same scale !!!! Not even remotely

So get over it. Canada will NOT GET BANNED
