Look how many people on Twitter are calling for tsn to drop its broadcasting rights and calling for Canada to be kept out of iihf events.
Ah yes, the mighty twitterati.

I just don’t see another likely scenario to that, tsn is going to be ostracized beyond belief if they decide to stand by HC and broadcast this tournament. How does the tournament function if every single corporate sponsor has pulled out? It won’t. I’m not saying the tournament itself won’t happen, but it won’t be advertised nearly to the extent it has been in the past and that in itself will drop viewing interest and ratings.
We just had that a few weeks ago.

I mean whether we like it or not, online mob’s hold alot of sway, especially when the media use it to base most of their opinions on. Tsn literally just came out and said they’ll be making an announcement in the coming months regarding the broadcasting of the tournament. My belief is they’ll be forced to pull their support and the tournament will not be televised.

Can anyone lay out the procedures for the dissolution of a national organization and formation of a new one?

Then provide the advantages and disadvantages. Please provide new mechanisms for review and improvements of the organization as well, such funding, new programs, and rules for the board of directors.

Can HC afford to run a selection camp and house the kids for 3-4 weeks which is necessary to field a competitive team? Who will run the show if the entire hockey Canada brass is dismissed this close to the tournament? It’s all a logistical nightmare and it’s quite apparent it won’t stop here. I’d be surprised if the U17 challenge in November ends up happening first and foremost. That’s an event that’s basically incumbent upon HC running or being a major financier of it. Not to mention the amount of funding the womens programs receives from revenue derived from the WJC and other mens tournaments. But hey, this is all fine and good and will surely lead to the culture changing and nothing bad ever happening again! Just destroy the sport of hockey itself and bam, no need to worry about hockey culture ever again.

I hope so too but I don’t see how that could be the case. We can’t remove all funding and the IIHF’s largest member and expect it to be close to the same. It could just become another smallish tournament that you can find steams for online, but gone are the days of it being a big tradition and spectacle at Christmas time. Shame for the kids and future kids who will have nothing like this to try and attain or work towards.
I'm sure the money for the 2023 WJR's is already on the books. The tournament will run on schedule.

Worst case, the feds would step in, cover any costs and say we'll be making the necessary changes in 2023.

They are, but without hockey canadas participation and the coverage it receives through Tsn and all the corporate sponsors, this tournament will barely be more than the u18’s coverage wise. Look how many people on Twitter are calling for tsn to drop its broadcasting rights and calling for Canada to be kept out of iihf events.
Isn’t it great our wonderful prime minister is making great political hay in sticking his nose in,
why doesn’t he be so brave as tell Quebec to allow a pipeline to the east coast.
I am trying not to get bogged down in this but it would seem logical for HC head take one for the team and have the board of directors wave good bye in the rear view mirror.
get on with hockey before Justine Trudeau ruins the game for political gamesmanship.

Can you imagine a WJR's without Russia and Canada IN Canada? The whole thing would shut down if Canada wasn't involved - people would demand their money back.

I am always amazed how stupid people can be.

The same thing was said about the summer tournament 6 months ago. How did that turn out?

If I looked back at your spring posts, would you be saying the same thing about the August tournament?

I feel like there is plenty of avenues where we can vent our frustrations about the HC scandal but I don't think this thread is one. It's a roster talk thread. Can we stay on topic?

The heat at the time wasn’t the same it is now, and none of the corporate sponsors had ended their partnership at that time. Now I realize the lack of crowds and buzz was majorly tied to the tournament being in the summer, but tsn very clearly distanced itself and cut way back on their advertising and marketing, which I imagine if they do end up broadcasting this one, it’ll be much of the same. Look, I truly want to see it all happen the way it has in the past and this can all be resolved, but do you truly think this tournament will run just like years prior with all that’s transpired?

For people better in the know, how likely is it that there isn’t a team Canada at the world juniors moving forward?

Extremely unlikely. Like almost zero chance. You could see Hockey Canada die and Canada Hockey be formed or something but there will still be a Canadian team.

It would also be incredibly unfair to the young participants on the junior team that have nothing to do with the scandal or the executives.

I'm onboard with tearing up the whole organization up and starting from scratch with a new org structure to head up hockey Canada and letting the Jr team play under an interim management team.

With so many scandals and issues of late I'm feeling the sport might be increasingly unpopular among parents to put their kids in in the coming generation.

If team Canada would be banned, which is what i think would be fair if they aren't ready to revamp their organization. It would be hilarious, Russia gets banned for invading a country, Canada gets banned for invading a p***y.

This is a joke btw, one that i hope people can understand lol

They should dissolve hockey Canada
No point of even playing anymore
Let the others have a chance
Why Canada shouldn't play upcoming U20 WJC's?
Is that Hockey Canada's sexual abuse / sexual harassment scandal
really so severe Canada should stay out of upcoming U20 WJC's in Halifax and Moncton.

I get that Canadian people wouldn't want to pay any moneys for now to Hockey Canada.
But please godsake don't make innocent 2003 born U20 National team players
pay for those illegal actions because that sickening shit isn't their fault.

If someones should get penalized it is all those idiots and morons who are guilty on those illegal actions.

Hard to believe the HC Canada board hasn't let go a bunch of people. The negative publicity would end if they just canned a bunch of the executives that were in charge while this happened and hired a bunch of progressive people from diverse backgrounds and showed a willingness to change.

The sponsors wouldn't have left and the media hype would have ended long ago.

Baffling to think they are holding out at the expensive of everything.

There is zero chance.

As you have said, they will fire some people, add some strict rules and change the name of Hockey Canada to the "Federation Of Canadian Hockey" and everyone will move on. Then, years from now, people will complain "things never really changed".
