Iam so passed with Hockey Canada for snubbing there nose at everyone.
The were money hungry and forgot about there purpose.
The WJ TOURNAMENT may be canceled this year.
Why upcoming U20 WJC's should be cancelled?
Of course if covid19 pandemic starts again same time with winter and
it gets as worse what it was last January then cancelletion is possible.

Any roster projections
Wrong thread. I mean sure. For now I will assume that all NHLers stay in the NHL. An off the top of the head team:

Othmann Stankoven Bedard
Dean Savoie Roy
Ostapchuk Gaucher Winterton
Kidney Beck Yager
L'Heureux, Del Bel Belluz

Allan Zellweger
Mateychuk Matier
Del Mastro Ceulemans
Korchinski, Lambos

Gaudrea

I neither wish for them banned nor the WJC canceled but this year if it goes ahead I definitely won't be rooting much for TC. Just feels a little unwarranted and while it's got nothing to do with the kids playing this year on the roster, some humbling feels like it's due. To cheer for a Gold after this scandal just feels wrong.

Oh please

Root for these kids. They deserve all the support.

You are free to decide what you do with your moneys and how you use them.
If you decide to skip U20 WJC's in Halifax and Moncton it is your choice.

But it would be unfair to make innocent 2003 born players to pay the price
for illegal actions in Hockey Canada's front-office and management.

That's why i hope Canada participates to upcoming U20 WJC's as planned.
And IIHF shouldn't cancel these U20 WJC's without serious covid19 issues
so let these U20 WJC's happen and lets play hockey once again.

I get that all Canadians wants sactions for that nasty sexual scandal in hockey Canada.
But as i said earlier if IIHF would have any interest to ban Team Canada for international hockey
that would've happened good while ago.

Canada is main money maker for IIHF so they won't ban or suspend Canada easily.
Yes rules and treatment must be the same for everyone but only who should carry their responsibility
is all those peoples who are guilty and involved that sickening shit

Canada is not getting banned or even suspended for IIHF.
Only consequences what IIHF might consider for Hockey Canada is probably serious warning and that's it.

You'd better tell the police or the media what illegal actions the front office and management took, because none have been reported. But yes, Canada won't be banned because there happen to be allegations that did not even yield charges and Hockey Canada had the audacity to settle with the accuser years later rather than fight her in court. The head of the IIHF is also a Canadian, for what that's worth.

Wright-watch is on after he barely played in the first game and was scratched for the second. He may turn it around this year, which seems unlikely but is possible, but you'd hope that Francis is not so stubborn as to stand by his premature statements. Considering he did not play two years ago and didn't dominate last year it isn't shocking that Wright may struggle early on in the NHL. Would still be a good depth addition for Canada at centre.

I'd really like to see Wright on Team Canada this winter, and my presumption at this point (which will perhaps prove incorrect) is that Wright will be on Team Canada, whether that's because he gets loaned-out by Seattle or he's eventually sent down to the OHL after his 9-game stint...although if he is sent down to OHL, I'd like to see Seattle force Kingston to trade him away to a contending franchise with better ability to develop him.

My non-professional view, which you also mentioned, is that Wright simply hasn't played enough hockey over the past two years and should be getting as many reps in as possible, not playing under 10 minutes per night in Seattle on the 4th line or scratched entirely. That fact probably isn't lost on anyone involved with Wright, including Francis. But, having said that the fact that he didn't play in the August 2002 World Juniors is curious.

Yeah I lean toward thinking that he will be at the tournament, even though it is very early days. I could see Seattle holding on to him for the next two months and using him sparingly in games before sending him to the WJC. Nothing I've read indicates that he looks NHL ready though I admittedly have not watched Seattle yet.

How the mighty have fallen. A depth addition?

Well, as things stand right now I wouldn't put him on the top line. He was totally ineffective in the winter camp and limited game action last year, but of course he should be a better player now. Second line centre would be a good spot, but depending on other NHLers it could be third.

With the kind of pull Francis has with hockey Canada, if wright is still with seattle, I could see francis attach some considerations to loaning-out wright to the Canadian national team, being that he would need to be a showcase player for us at the world juniors. If memory serves, there were de facto agreements in place with their NHL clubs for players like virtanen and lazar to be top-6 players at their respective tournaments (even if someone like virtanen probably had no business being anything more than a fourth liner for us).

Yeah there was a lot of that buzz especially surrounding Virtanen. It wouldn't shock if there were conditions for Wright being loaned, but he's a big name with a lot of history with Hockey Canada even in leadership roles so I wouldn't think it would be an issue even without an agreement. He may also be playing regularly by December, who knows.

I just don't think Wright will be anything less than our #2C (if he is available), based on quality of play and/or guardrails put in place by Francis. I can't see him get anything less than top-6 minutes unless he really, really sucks at the tournament....and even then, Virtanen played a ton in 2016.

I'll also be curious to see if Jordan Dumais might get a camp invite. Really talented offensive player but his size will work against him, plus no international experience. He's the kind of guy that the super series games were important for. Could be in the mix for 2024.

Off to a sizzling start. anything planned for November to replace the SSS? I'd like to see CHL and the USHL play 6 games. and keep it CHL/USHL when/if the Russians are allowed back.

Not that I've heard but they really should do something. Given the political situation they may as well move on from Russia for these purposes and the USHL is a good option. Good chance for both sides to get more reps in and eyes on players before December. Otherwise you never know how many Collin Shirleys will slip through your fingers.

Any chance a mod can start threadbanning the posters who want to keep forcing the discussion away from the roster and the players contending for it?

It is absolutely ridiculous to compare how heavy-handed the mod team is with enforcing the “no politics” rule when it comes to Russia invading Ukraine and pushing us all closer to a third world war against how it has allowed discussion of the woes of the - now former - Team Canada brass to infect so many threads.

I don’t know why he wouldn’t get a look. I saw some lineups with his teammate Zach L’Heureux as a “lock” but Dumais has had better seasons that ZLH every year they’ve played.
