How about these players just pin back their ears and play some real power hockey. Cut the cute, cut the gimmicks, play as a team to win the game.

Team Canada got what it deserved. You always need to take your opponent seriously.

The reason they lost wasn’t because of some abstract notion of individualism or arrogance toward the opponent, it’s because they were lost in defensive zone coverage and unable to account for aggressive czech defenseman, and were unable to generate second chance scoring opportunities on Suchanek. I get if it’s 9-0 and a player tried and pulls a lacrosse move that it could be poorly viewed, but Bédard and Fantilli don’t have better options there and created good scoring chances

I honestly find the people who are pissy because some people don't like the Michigan plays much more annoying than those who don't like the Michigan. The Canadian players came out with the wrong attitude for that game. Still a good chance that the team rolls to a win if Clarke's goal counted. The margins can be very slim, especially with juniors.

The players being interviewed admitted they came out with the wrong attitude. They talked about the Michigan and toe drags. I think they know better than most the mistakes they made in this game. Regardless Czechia is a really good squad that came out flying and never really let up. They capitalized on their chances. Their goalie played a hell of a game. I doubt they take any other team for granted now. The Canadian squad knows now what they have to do to win. Still need that great goal tending to come out of this on top.

I just find it hilarious that Canada lost and instead of arguing over bad goaltending, or blown defensive coverages, or lack of discipline - you know, the REAL reason Canada lost.

People are arguing about two shot attempts over the whole game. Get a grip.

I agree with this.

Something I haven't seen commented on is the talk of the new "goal song" going into the game by the TSN announcers - what hubris. If I was a Czech player and heard people talking about the surprise new goal song it would motivate me to do everything I could to make sure the new song would not be played against my team. It's like there was a foregone conclusion Canada would win so the only mystery was what the stupid song would be. How did that work out?

There's been lots of comments about restructuring the forward lines but not so much about defensive pairings. The accepted concept is to have one offensive minded d-man paired with a defensive minded d-man and I think that's sound strategy. Given that, and given that Clark played more like a forward than a d-man - my question is which d-man should be paired with Clark?

I mean that has been a dumb thing TSN has been doing for a number of years now. It isn't that deep and hasn't negatively effected the team in the past because it is just a goal song lol

Once again, trying a legit scoring opportunity is not “selfish”.

I’ve asked a few times now with no answers… do you consider ankle breaking dekes through the whole team as “selfish and show boating”?

Hopefully we see a good response to the hubris and lackadaisical defensive play they displayed against Cesko, or whatever they’re called now. Germany is on a B2B so there’s no excuse to be out-hustled tonight.

Yeah even the players are owning up to being a to individualistic last game. I have no issues with guys trying skill plays at all. But just make sure it works because no matter what situation you are in there is always more options than just one play to make. It's not like the Czechs had every square inch of ice covered at all times. They aren't that good. There was always options on the table and sometime keeping it simple is the best option.
