The whole TSN pre-tournament show is designed to hype interest in the tournament and Button, who loves making (in his mind) bold, big predictions is the head hyper.

It is what it is. I enjoyed the show - for a change.

You just know that, once Hockey Canada gets past all the scandals and both they and TSN get all their sponsors back, the hype will be off the charts bonkers insane. Nothing will be sacred. And hockey players will be naughty again sometime in the future, but they will all turn a blind eye to it and go hush hush. We have money to make. The grand cycle of like.

I agree with you 100% and I’ll even go a step further and say that tsn has disappointed and has gone American style trash analysis meant for sensationalization. There is no more true analysis but only hype analysis

Tsn once used to care about the truth but now is only out for trash 🗑

A week ago, I saw the odds for Canada (vs Czechia) was -700. I thought, "I can live with putting $700 down to win $100, since there is little chance that Canada loses".

I went to place the bet and it turns out I was wrong about the -700...

It is -1600.

Needless to say, I am not risking $1,600 to win $100.

I would guess the true odds are about 3-4 to 1 in favor of Canada. 7-8 to 1 is too much.

I think the actual Czechs (eg. Since separating) have one win against Canada at this tourney in history. We played twice a few months ago at the summer version... 5-1 and 5-2.

I think team USA might win this tournament as they will skate circles around the team Canada. I hope not because Canada is my team and I hope Canada can cleanup their act.

Canadians who remember 2005 have fond memories. The team was GREAT and you could enjoy every game and never worry for a second that the team was going to lose. The closest game was the semis when we won 3-1 (IIRC) and, even then, there was never a concern.

TSN is trying to get those fans to tune in by making the comparison.

It's the team you're cheering for...not the media, not Hockey Canada. This group has nothing to do with that group other than it's Team Canada. There's always arrogance from the media in this tournament, it's their job to hype it up and help sell it.
