Lots of soft perimeter play.

Poor goaltending and poor defensive coverage. One of the softest games I’ve ever seen from a Canadian team at this tournament.

Offensively that was unacceptable.

Trying to highlight reel saucer pass and Michigan lacrosse moves rather than running the opponent through the boards and winning puck races on their forecheck.

Lack of intensity and heart overall. Just an absolutely soft team and stupid stick penalties.

Unrecognizable for how a Canadian team should look and play.

Goes without saying, but one of the most pathetic showings I can recall from Team Canada. Good to get this shit out of the way early.

We’ll win on Wednesday. But if we don’t DOMINATE, we’re cooked. Time to play up to the team’s skill level. Every single shift has to be balls to the wall from here out.

Thank you

I’ve been stating since they picked the team that this is an extremely SOFT TEAM

tsn and lots of posters here hyping the size but what is size if not used

Soft soft soft soft team. No cycling no hitting no pressure

You stop bedard and you stop this team basically

I have no problem with the intensity - it was there. Unfortunately, nothing went our way.

All that early fancy stuff has got to go.

Forwards looks like it’s Bedard surrounded by a whole lot of mediocre. Not good at all.

Hinds should not be on this team and Del Mastro was kind of a nightmare. I thought Korchinski and Allan when paired up played well, and should be given more minutes next game.

That was soft and utterly unacceptable. The lack of a heavy forecheck was very noticeable.

Embarassing effort on the intensity grade, going nowhere playing like it’s a skills competition game.

I disagree, D. We'll be fine and get better as the tournament goes on.

I thought they played hard / intense.

They played early like they'd already won the game. This will be a wonderful wakeup call.

It all stems from starting the wrong guy, undisciplined game paired with Canada not getting the bounces they needed.

If Dean didn’t get that 5 minute major - the game would have been much closer.

Canada was the better team - Czechia played the better game.

It’s going to be a more difficult road to the gold medal, but it is absolutely doable.

I’m sure it will be mentioned soon but when is the last time Canada lost their opening game?
I know we lost the opener against Sweden in 2002 at the Olympics - sort of like this. Then we barely beat Germany. That tournament turned out fine.

I hope you are correct but I doubt it. This team was built wrong. No true leader. Wright is not a leader sorry to say

I think that the decision to leave skill at home to bring bottom 6 and third pairing style players could come back to bite them.

I didn't say anything because I thought they'd still win handily but I'm not so sure now.

Also I really don't get the 2005 comparison for this team aside from Bedard -> Crosby. The bottom half of the roster is kind of a mess and the top guns aside from Bedard don't seem stronger than any other year (hell, they might be weaker). The roster in 2021 was wayyyyy stronger and just lacking a generational player.

The team will be fine.
