Bedard is a dynamic talent and worthy of being a 1OA pick, but his game is immature and selfish. Don’t even mind him michiganning and doing all his Bedard stuff but he’s gonna be our point shot man too? Still though, If Canada wins Gold it will be on his shoulders.
Selfish?

His teammates were ass.

He had no choice but to do it all himself.

The same Clarke that was all over the ice tonight? End to end rush to boot.

Dude was pretty handily the best D in the offensive zone, and he didn’t hurt anything in his own end.

The dude needs more minutes.

I’m not saying he was bad. He played an overall solid game. I’m simply stating his foot speed looks slow. A couple times skating bsck for pucks it was noticed.

I agree with your assessment overall. Fantelli looked like he was trying to do too much out there.

Zellweiger didn’t impress me

What hell Canada 2-5 loss vs Czech's how's that possible?
Just asking.
An overconfident Canadian team more interested in trying to score highlight reel goals and land big hits rather than grinding out a win. Fortunately they got their kick in the ass as early as possible this year so hopefully they get it out of their system before the elimination round.

The narrative of Bedard being selfish is why Canada is falling behind in hockey.

Really don't know when handwaving any opinion, credible or otherwise, away just by calling it a "narrative" was popularized but I could do without it.

Going 1 on 4 over and over again is not good hockey. It's not the reason Canada lost tonight, and in fact he was their best skater but that mindset from the team had a lot to do with it.

This is why I had an issue with the team trying to pull off the Michigan twice in the first period. It wasn't necessarily those two plays on their own, it was more how it seemed to encapsulate the mindset this team had throughout the game where they were trying to hotdog and be too fancy instead of play a winning style of game. Toe drags, constant tick-tack-toe passing when a clear shot was available, trying to stickhandle around all five opponents, etc. That's what Canada was doing for too much of the game tonight.

Hopefully tonight was the wake up call they needed to actually go back to playing sound hockey.
