Since it seems the Ducks will likely finish bottom 5 this year, I figured we should have a thread for discussing the implications of where the f***s will finish in the standings. As well as what factors could affect where they finish.

Tonight was interesting as all bottom 5 teams earned 2 points sans the Ducks and the Hawks.

Hey Folks,

Want to clear some of the air here, Tank talk is not an issue, please talk tank to your heart’s content here, totally understand how critical it is for that Future Potential Top pick. The issue is posting in the GDT, like you want the team to lose or make posts that you are angry they are winning or won the game, or bashing the team for not tanking.

The main reason is, to respect your fellow members. The GDT is about discussion of the game on a live basis and then post game discussion and opinions. A lot of fans are not rooting for the team to lose, and everyone has their views and opinions towards tanking, and may not want to discuss tanking in the GDT

If you guys have any concerns, feel free to PM me or another mod, and would be happy to explain more in detail.

Yeah, my main worry is that we have one of the easiest schedules ROS (at least according to Tankathon), while "bubble tank" teams like OTT, SJ, and MTL have some of the most difficult. VAN are also looking like a complete train wreck with the Boudreau situation.

With so many awful/injured teams, if we go on one of our patented end of season runs it could potentially knock us way back in draft positioning. Given how bad our defense is and will be though, I don't even think it's possible we can do that without our entire offense going on a heater at the same time.

CBJ has the hardest remaining schedule in the league. it's going to be tough to out-tank them but let's see what happens post TDL

I'm really hoping for Andrew Brunette. I did love the BB era though and wouldn't mind him as my second choice.

Love BB but I think teams have figured out his teams. Last few stops have not been as successful as his past. People suggest his Ducks teams over achieved as well. I do t really agree. I think those teams were better than they're given credit for.

i think the BB teams definitely overachieved when you look at the rosters on paper. the key those teams success was the shutdown line and solid goaltending

Love BB, but not sure he's the guy you want coaching a young non-contending team. And at 68, don't think that's the opportunity he'd be looking for. Hope he lands somewhere he can win a cup.

Columbus have a chance of getting healthy and they won’t be dumping as many guys at the deadline. Chicago is the real threat to #1 overall after they trade Kane and Toews.

They will be trading both. Both are UFAs after this year and will be highly sought after rentals at the deadline.

I’m 99% sure Kane will be moved and 90% sure Toews will be.

I wouldnt be shocked if neither are traded. Same way Scotty and Getzlaf were never cashed in on. Unless either has made the declaration its time to move on. As has been mentioned, Toews contract would be hard to fit in for a contending team.

I could see Kane being dealt but having his contract filtered through an intermediary team to get double retention. The demand will be there for a goal scorer with cup experience. Toews has never seems like he has wanted to leave Chicago though so I'd be surprised if that happens.

From my understanding both Kane and Toews both haven’t made their decision yet. They are wanting to wait till mid February.

If that’s the case? They will win more games till next month. So that helps Anaheim I hope until then
