WC: 2023 Sweden Roster Talk

Berggren's on the top line in place of Alex (who's now 13F with L.Johansson entering the lineup) now at practice.
what about zetterlund? he was so good in pre-tournament games, i have feeling he can pot a couple when given a chance

I thought Zetterlund looked better with Lindberg and Berggren honestly. I’d probably slot Grundström with Raymond and Leo.

L.Johansson takes Berggren's spot on that line. Doesn't sound like a very interesting line without Berggren tbh.

Leo, & Berggren looked good together against Finland (except for that time there was a communication error where neither ended up taking the puck), but whenever seemingly Raymond got the puck the play died, so we'll see how it'll look against Hungary.

Is there anyone else at forward we can hope for if it's a no from Willy?
Wennberg.

But I think Nylander will arrive. They only confirmed Liljegren a few hours before he arrived, so I don't think the silence is enough to be concerned. They also sent both players that were not registered home, so that must mean that they have someone for the last slot (Willy)

And if Wennberg declines? I say call in Isak Rosen...he taken steps and according to Sabres fans he is NHL ready..

Rochester advanced tonight, so he is unavailable. But they knocked out the Marlies with Pontus Holmberg, a player Hallam managed in Växjö. But I think it is a moot point, Nylander will join, it will be officially confirmed today or tomorrow I am sure. He'll play against France on Saturday, book it!

There is also Nils Höglander if Nylander dont come. Dont know if he is available.

In my opinion, Sweden has played well. Against Finland, we barely had any good goal-scoring opportunities since we were kept outside the best areas. Sweden's problem is the offence and if W. Nylander comes, you'll be fine. Offense wins games, defence wins championships. I wouldn't be surprised if Sweden wins the whole thing.

Everberg is on the third line apparently they want to give him more chanses to prove his utter uselessness.
maybe they want him to play physical. last chance. everberg was good in wc 18 and 17

According to Jalonen France was a harder opponent for Finland, there is absolutely no way that was just mind games:sarcasm:

I guess it was because Sweden played more passive game but defense first mentality usually works when big things are at stake.

Yup, he was mad that Hallam beat him at his own game.

I’m gonna go ahead and assume no Nylander now. They are eerily quiet Liljegren shows up without Nylander and it’s been two days since it was reported he was cleared to play by Toronto.

Looks like he is not coming. Another EP situation. Our federation has no money anymore. I wonder why is that. How are we supposed to fight for medals if we dont have money enough to bring over our stars and why are we the only nation that dont have the money for it? Something is wrong.

Speaking of EP, Canucks GM is from Sweden...

Hallam gets lots of credit for bringing in youngsters like Leo and Wallstedt...but would he or any other swe coach ever dare to do what USA is doing? USA has average year of 24...full of youngsters. Would be interesting to see a swedish team like that in WC...sure would be entertaining..lots of energy and speed.

Something like this..

Wallstedt
Ersson
Alnefeldt

Sandin - Liljegren
Edvinsson - Broberg
Björnfot - Boqvist
Söderström

Holtz - Eklund - Raymond
Höglander - Leo - Berggren
Lysell - Rosen - Söderblom
Holmström - Åman - Heineman

There’s a reason why USA never captures gold in this tournament….

All money gone, spent it on lawyers trying to make Boden & KHK suffer. All to protect "ligamodellen" that everyone except a few loathes and despise.

(Well, I guess most money was lost in the utter failure of the previous hosting of the WC. Insane ticket prices for France - Slovenia etc.)
