That Havertz rumour is disgusting (especially at that price), I do not rate him at a player at all. He reminds me of Oezil, fantastic and wild talent but a very iffy drive. I would rather give Spurs 125 million for Kane than 80 million for Haverz.

Because there are rumors players might go from one to a different one? Did the Merseyside derby suck in the late 80s and 90s with Ablett, Beardsley, Barmby, etc.? I mean, shit, only 15 players have ever played for both Arsenal and Tottenham and 36 have played for both Everton and Liverpool.

But the Merseyside derby is apparently this huge deal.
I mean, do we want to look at how those numbers have slided from the 80s-90s to the 00s-current? Or do we want to talk about a bunch of players that most the people on this board have probably never heard of? It’s been few and far between and these players generally weren’t stars when they moved. Your most recent example of this (I think) happened in 1999. Been a long time since then. LFC aren’t selling their stars to Everton and Utd and vice versa. Ferguson went insane over Gabriel Heinze going to LFC and blocked the deal. Meanwhile all the London players just taking turns at each others clubs, in their prime and helping out each other’s title races. The “rivalries” are simply not good. It can be a fun game but there is no hot sauce

Drive is absolutely not Havertz problem.

You get fixated on some weird things. Why would Liverpool sell their stars to an Everton team two tiers below them? There's a concentration of like-for-like clubs in London. I promise you no one outside of Liverpool actually cares about Liverpool/Everton rivalry.

West Ham and Tottenham do have a transfer embargo effectively, though. That arguably has more to do with David Sullivan/Daniel Levy than the clubs themselves, even.

Other thing I would add with this is that players like being in London. And Chelsea’s circumstances are more unique because we historically haven’t sold to rivals unless we reallllyyt want to, but the club is in a questionable period right now so players are open to other London clubs

Major italian clubs seem to have a ton of players who cross over.

Meh.
Chelsea are the ones that are usually doing the buying from across town. Chelsea raided Arsenal when they were weak and the opposite is happening now. I’m just saying if Ferguson was at a London club like Chelsea if a player wanted to stay in London he’d make them go to Palace or West Ham at best.

Italian clubs share players for money laundering and transfer shenanigans so not exactly the same thing

Plenty of players to sell and lower the wage budget at the same time. Maguire, Telles, Bailly, Henderson, Elanga, Martial, McTom, Fred all potentially leaving. Pretty various sums there that they’ll receive but I don’t see how an extra 80-120 from
them is out of the question.
That's because other teams have seen them play so I have doubts. Henderson will probably fetch the most , maybe McTom the next, but after that? :help:

I mean that’s fair, but again people certainly care about LFC vs United and it’s the same thing there. And Ferguson would never have thrown a life raft out to a “like for like” club

FWIW, players seldom play for both Chelsea and Spurs. Scott Parker and William Gallas are the only two recent ones I can think of. A bunch of managers have managed both, weirdly - although, until Poch, the direction of travel was pretty consistently Chelsea --> Tottenham (and the Tottenham connection, supposedly, was an impediment to hiring Pochettino when we sacked Lampard in 2021 or maybe when we sacked Tuchel in the fall, I don't remember which).

Arsenal has taken our retirees with a smile in recent years. But it was, indeed, a LARGE deal when Cesc came to Stamford Bridge.

The only Arsenal player that Chelsea raided from there any time recently (unless I'm having a MASSIVE brain fart) is Ashley Cole, and that was not when Arsenal was weak.

Giroud wasn't a raid - he was deemed surplus at Arsenal.

Drive is absolutely not Havertz problem.
I am not talking about drive like going to the net with the ball or anything like that, I am talking about his play away from the ball. If Jesus loses it, he does all he can to get the ball back without sacrificing his positioning. When Havertz loses it he doesn't really care, plus he's a player that is easy to pickpocket the ball from. I get that the striker position isn't really a job notorious for backtracking or a high work rate, but if your finishing skills sort of suck and you don't really do anything else on the pitch, then you're a lamppost. Trust me, I've watched him for the past three seasons, I know what type of player we're getting if Arsenal wants him and (currently) it ain't an 80 million pound striker I can guarantee you that.

This transfer just seems like revenge against Mudryk and honestly, it makes Chelsea better because they recoup funds. The best for rival teams is to allow Chelsea to keep all their rubbish from last season and not sell any of it to help their FFP. Giving you lot 80 million for Havertz absolutely helps the Blues FFP and allows them to spend more.

I mean that’s what 10mil a player? Henderson should get 20-30, McTom should get 20-30. Elanga should be 15-20 I mean that’s 55-80 right there already.

And yet for all Ferguson cared, he still signed Michael Owen.

Ferguson always LOVED Owen. Even more than Kevin De Bruyne!

Also was not a direct transfer and Owen not exactly known for his loyalty. Owen was mad at LFC for not bringing him back from Madrid and Ferguson was more than happy to twist the knife and get a player he always rated

Barella to Newcastle?!?

Lol you're still on this?
Macron is just trying to look good when everyone hates him.
If you think Mbappe feels any pressure from Macron LOL.
I find it incredibly funny.

I do not know if it has an impact or not, but it is HILARIOUS that he is trying.

I imagine Trudeau saying something like that about McDavid wanting to leave Canada or something and I burst out laughing. It is incredibly ridiculous that he would even say that.

If only he beat his chest and scowled more...

It really doesn't sound that way...
So all these failures up to now have strictly been on Chelsea and the coaching staff? Don't tell me you think he's had a successful EPL career thus far?

He’ll say yes, but he’ll be wrong. They partially are (he’s not a real 9 and he looked at his best with Timo moving off of him) but he also has generally seemed like he can’t be assed

Nope, but I don't really care what he does for a paycheck as long as he stays a beast for the NT...up to a goal contribution every 81 min., and he's very active away from the ball; both defensively and offensively.

I was just commenting on your armchair body-posture-analysis of his drive. Just because a player doesn't beat their chest doesn't mean they don't care. Kai's not a very loud kinda guy, but that doesn't make him apathetic.

Oh Kai's definitely been checked out since everything went to s***, but again him not being a screamer like Kahn was doesn't make him lazy.
