So I will give shit to any player that took that money and doesn't use it to do a ton of good for others, but I don't think Henderson is worse than any of the other shameless whores.
I don't think Henderson is any worse than anyone else who signed in Saudi. Or for PSG. Or for City. Or for Newcastle. Or for Chelsea in the Roman era.
(we can talk about how competitive the Saudi league is or is not, but that's not what people are "offended" about in this case - if he went for the same money to play in, let's say, Sweden, noone would mind... it's the human rights thing that's the issue, and if that's the case - and it is - Saudi, Newcastle, PSG and City are in the same boat)

He's won everything in club football. And even if he hadn't, it's entirely his right to go play there for stupid amounts of money.

No we should cry about it ruining the game because it’s not European.

I’d hope he doesn’t go and has more sense than the other footballers that left but as been stated on here these guys are no role models. It’s best. It to put them on a pedestal.
I think that's one of the reasons he might not. He wants to win stuff, have his legacy increase, and I don't know that he feels he's ready to give up the top matches. I think there's also the Egypt / Saudi Arabia rivalry to consider.

But at some point, even for a dude who has a ton of money, the money likely will be too absurd to pass up. He's already built a hospital, school, you name it in his home town. What more could he do if he made say, 300 million more?

The bulk of it went to river plate who had retained a portion of his rights and thus a percentage on his sale when Benfica inevitably flipped him. This is common practice and a reason why teams like Benfica can get elite talents like Enzo for cheap in SA. Side note most transfers have agent fees and other stuff.

Good on River for having a sell-on clause in their agreement with Benfica. That is always smart business if you are selling a player like that to a stepping stone club.

I have no sympathy, if you aren't sure that they will pay, don't sell to them. It's like when you are making a purchase from a random person, if the deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is, so don't even bother, and it's why you could be in trouble if you purchase stolen goods like that. If you want to use Saudi to make your FFP work or fund a rebuild, then that's the risk you take.

Benfica pocketed only 57M for Enzo.

Intermediaries, agents, other clubs, etc...

I’m curious what the fee is without intermediaries and agents as that is the sum Chelsea would be on the hook for regarding FFP.

still great business as they paid only 16m euros for him

sucks that agents are getting so much money nowadays, such leeches.

Yeah, they’ll survive. Benfica will continue to make a killing selling players and have plenty on the books they’ll probably profit greatly from going forward.

That's really the next step that football needs to work on, so much corruption in the world of football agents and won't believe what happens in Africa. You don't even need a proper license, you need to take a class and get a certificate and you can operate almost anywhere. Granted some European countries are being a lot stricter on the qualifications needed to be an agent.

sEPH just can’t help himself.
What fam? I was told stories by Ghana and Nigerian brethren about family members who were kidnapped because the kidnappers use the "fake agent" route that promises these young kids wanting to play football by getting them a club in Europe, so they leave their city or village and travel to a location where the agents promise them a trip to the airport but get kidnapped to work on farms and mines in Northern Africa (places like Sudan, Niger, Libya, and Mauritania). You've never heard about this?

Aren't you the guy who said they were kidnapped in Africa once lol
I don't remember, I write a lot of stuff.

You took a conversation about agent fees from a transfer between a Portuguese team to an English team and somehow connected it to corruption in Africa lol. Double down to kidnappings in Africa...
Yes, that's because the agent world is an unregulated mess that has gotten people kidnapped. That was the only reason I mentioned that African story that my brethren told me and why that applies to the rubbish we're seeing in Europe and South America regarding agent corruption.
