Would've still liked to have him capped for Canada.
Haha, yeah I would agree. At this point I will take any dual-nat I can just to say we convinced someone to go the Canada route.

For Flores, it will be interesting to see if he can use Tigers to find his game at the senior level. I'm thinking he may be in NA for a while now.

Fifa says the total amount paid to agents during the recent transfer window was $696.6m (£558.3m), which "corresponds to nearly 10% of the total spending on transfer fees". This compares to 5.8% in 2013.

Fifa adds that despite over three months of 2023 still remaining, the "total amount of service fees for club agents since the beginning of the year has already reached $865m (£693.25m). This is the highest total ever recorded and 38.8% higher than the whole of 2022".

Given the figures do not include transfers that take place within a single country, Fifa concedes the overall amounts paid to agents is likely to be "substantially higher".

Fifa's new regulations around agents which, in part, aim to curb "excessive fees" come into force on 1 October.

Funny how much real estate this guy had in Canadian heads when he was deciding where to play...
Hate it when guys who could’ve played for us get one-and-done for other countries

I’ll never forgive Southgate for Fik (even tho he almost def would’ve played for Nigeria over Canada)

Not Canada, but it’s also why I don’t like that he called up Nketiah

I’m curious what the fee is without intermediaries and agents as that is the sum Chelsea would be on the hook for regarding FFP.
That can't be how it works for FFP, right? Surely they have to take into account all of the transfer costs, including the transfer fee and agent/intermediary fees (though I'm not sure if agent fees get capitalized/amortized vs expensed right away).

I thought only spending on club infrastructure, facilities, and youth development was excluded from FFP calculations.

Got anything to say about him?

Athletic center back with good feet for his size, a goal threat on set pieces. Was a project for Hajduk Split thus made his debut with the senior team at the age of 16 though as expected being thrown into the fire so early there was some growing pains even at the Croatian league level. He was supposedly close to joining PSG but the transfer fell through. This season he hasn't played at all (probably due to the impending sale). The Croatian media reports he will stay at Hajduk until the winter then probably move on loan to another European league ala Belgium/Netherlands for further development

Only concern is outside of Modric and to a lesser extent Kranjcar these Croatian League to EPL moves rarely work out, though it appears he is still a few years away from making a significant contribution to Spurs and will hopefully "grow" on loan at the leagues in between the two levels

Thanks!

It sounds like he'll be staying at Hajdjuk until 2025 before moving to Spurs.

Great talent, but I've seen a lot of great talents not live up to their potential.
He's bigger than anyone in his age group, but tbf, he's already played senior football last season.
Turned 16 and started games for Hajduk.
This season he's still to play, had a minor injury and then they kept him out of the lineup, most likely to avoid any further possible injury concerns before the transfer.

He is the best CB prospect in his age group in Europe, that's more or less a fact. And by some distance too.
Whether he lives up to it or not, remains to be seen.

I don't see any surprises on these list, personally. Actually, PSG is pretty high considering that they've been only been massive since Qatar 12 years ago. Tottenham is one of the biggest clubs in the EPL and Inter/Juventus are well...Inter/Juv. Inter was as big as anyone else for the entirety of the aughts/early 10s while Chelsea/City/ManU are crackhead clubs.

Today Gold said this is a huge shift for Spurs, they all but stopped spending money on young players years ago and apparently Ange is getting his way in injecting youth into the squad.

"Over my time I'd found that the earlier promising players are thrown into the mix, the better for everyone," Postecoglou said in his book 'Changing the Game: Football in Australia Through My Eyes'. "The better players will really thrive and the strugglers will be found out, and no further resources will be used up on them."

Postecoglou has overhauled the age of his squad. Among those heading out of the door this summer were Harry Kane (30), Lucas Moura (30), Harry Winks and Davinson Sanchez (both 27), while the loan of Clement Lenglet (28) was not taken up again. Former club captain Hugo Lloris (36) declared that he wanted a new challenge although that is yet to be found.

Of the new faces in his squad this season, James Maddison and Guglielmo Vicario are by far the oldest at 26, the rest were 22-years-old (Van de Ven and Brennan Johnson), 23 (Manor Solomon), 19 (Alejo Veliz) and 18 (Ashley Phillips) while Pedro Porro and Dejan Kulusevski (both 23) had their loan moves made permanent and Udogie (20) finally arrived after his loan season back at Udinese.

Postecoglou has also used 20-year-old Pape Matar Sarr in every match so far with 22-year-old Oliver Skipp getting a fair bit of game time. Older players such as Ivan Perisic (34), Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (28) and Ben Davies (30) remain useful squad members but have seen their minutes shrink this season so far while Eric Dier (29) has not been named in a single matchday squad yet.

As Arsenal was linked with wanting Rice for an entire year, there are reports coming out of Portugal that Arsenal really want Ousmane Diomande, CB and will get him next summer. He supposedly has an 80 million Euro release clause.
