Saw something yesterday where the club that is signing Veiga (don't know the name, don't care either) is targeting younger players than the other Saudi clubs.

Some of this comes down to terminology and interpretation. He can absolutely play the Schweinsteiger role in a doppel-6. But you need to pair him with someone who can fill the Sami role, not ask him to play a Busquets like role as the lone holder.

If you want him to be your lone 6, then you need to stick some Gattusos in front of him, so that (like Pirlo) he can freely manipulate from those deeper positions.

At this point I think my preference is to make him a defensive FB again, and to play with a defensive holder behind Musiala & Wirtz. But I’m cool with giving him the freer 6-role next to Can / Khedira / Martel.
Yes!

How about Arnold on the latter as well? Too old? He's a much better set piece deliverer than Kimmich also.

I think most fans hate to see him go. It’s just that Kudus has been pushing for a transfer for about a year now and they don’t really feel he has the motivation or drive anymore to give his all at Ajax. That’s where the fuss is all about. Same group of fans that come up with excuses why Ajax can spend that ~40/50M elsewhere.

The facts: Kudus’ stay with Ajax hasn’t been fully successful. He’s been playing multiple positions, from a box to box CM, to CAM, striker or on the wings. Couple that with a few injuries/set backs, multiple coaches in just a short window and he never got a consistent stretch of greatness. It were mostly flukes or a handful of games where he showed absolute top class abilities. You can tell however, that he is the total package, only still a diamond that needs to be polished. He has all the traits to become an elite player one day, including the physical attributes. Outstanding dribbler, quick, agile, strong, finds spaces well, rocket of a shot and can even defend well. His football IQ I am not sure about. He can make some really nonchalant plays every so often.

I for one would hate to see him go. There’s yet another raid going on and he’s pretty much the only player left with world class abilities. The rest either come up short or are still just teenagers.
The positional versatility is interesting. West Ham are desperate at striker. Some links, but nothing concrete. Antonio and Ings as your only recognized options are just not it. Moyes was talking about potentially moving Bowen there, but I wonder if Kudus is the play there. I’d love to have a better option than Benrahma on the left, but one thing at a time.

No I'll say it again. Ugochukwu is filled with qualities and his passing ability is already top notch.
He's raw tactically and position wise.

Sure. I think there’s an argument he is on par with Lavia already. The problem is Chelsea always had him as a Strasbourg option if they could sign better players, and they’ve already signed two that are probably going to be over him in the depth chart. When they signed Ugochukwu they literally did not know if it was for Chelsea or Strasbourg. The window is still open and they still may not know.

They should put an offer in then. Klopp said no bid in press conference today. I suspect he’s said more in the embargoed section

You just wrote two different things in the same post.
Always had him at Strasbourg and did not know if it was for Chelsea or Strasbourg.
Besides the fact it makes no sense, the second part is the right one.
They didn't know. Poch wanted to evaluate him.
I think he rates him more ready than Santos and thus need him as a backup.
I'm not sure it's the right move for him in terms of paying time but since I think Caicedo and Latvia aren't great to begin with, maybe it's best and he sees enough time.

Always had him at Strasbourg because he was a failsafe if the bigger transfers did not happen. Who signs a player and then says “I need to evaluate what team he is playing for” in the same window. That’s pretty unprecedented. They weren’t evaluating him. They were evaluating if they were going to make other moves. I agree that he jumped Santos on the depth chart though, but who knows if Chelsea is done adding

No, it was quite clearly an evaluation between Ugochukwu and Santos, not a failsafe on if we were going to spend bigger money on another CDM. I don't know how you can see things play out in reality, right in front of you, and then just go with some other wild conclusion.
