Transfer: 2023 Summer Transfer Window - Open Window Edition

I heard rumors about Jonathan David. That is quite possible too.
I feel like it makes a ton of sense for players.

If you’re young, you can justify maybe holding off a bit and trying to make it at a top flight league.

Most of these guys have played around the top level and either the club or player want big money and the Saudis are getting quality that no one else can afford.

If there isn’t an obvious landing spot for David now, it kind of makes sense. Might as well take a guaranteed pay day. If his big move doesn’t happen now, it probably isn’t something to bet on going forward. I’d take the pay day in Saudi if I were him.

Saudi has definitely made more big transfers than I expected, or at least transfers of players that I wouldn't have expected. Those already somewhat close to the culture made sense, some of the others don't.

I'll be curious how long they stay and if the trend continues.

As long as it’s long enough for Al-Ettifaq to take Lukaku, I’ll be happy

It's not necessarily dispositive because that airport may make sense for other reasons. Like Leverkusen is 20 minutes from the Köln airport and 30 from Düsseldorf, so depending on flight timing, etc., it could make more sense.
Sure. But it is also called silly season for a reason!

The internet sleuths found a Cessna that flew from Düsseldorf to Blackpool today. Probably nothing but never know. LFC known to fly Cessna’s into Blackpool for tapping up. Probably nothing though. Stopped in Munich too. But obviously this is very 2 + 2 = 22 stuff

I actually understand the Gabri Veiga a bit more. Sure, he could move to a better club in Europe, but with a move to Saudi, his life / future is set whether he makes the mark or not. He will make enough money to live happily over 2-3 seasons, and in a couple years, if he improves, he could move again without much trouble. If he doesn't, he's still set.

Spurs news:

- Links to Brennan Johnson and Porto's Pepe (the winger).

- Adarabioyo to Monaco seems to be off so they might go back in for him.

- Looking to offload Eric Dier. Ange doesn't fancy him. Spurs want to sell him but he wants to run down the last year of his contract. Tricky situation.

- Looking to sell Hojbjerg because they are struggling extending him and don't want to sell him next summer with only a year left on his contract. Atletico is the main link but they aren't ponying up what Spurs want.

It is very dissapointing. Hopefully he's back next year

Livakovic finally makes his move abroad, signs for Fenerbahce in a deal which seemed to be official months ago but I guess there was a handshake aggrement to wait until Dinamo's CL status (eliminated). Apparently he could have joined Almeria but the wages were better in Fener despite the league being better

Plus he gets to play for Jaissle as long as he’s there. He doesn’t yet have the reputation amongst the public, but if I was a footballer, Nagelsmann is the only German coach I’d rather have developing me than Jaissle.

Azmoun to Roma on loan.
Amiri to Leeds on a permanent deal.
Özcan turns Galatasaray down.

FC VW want Sydney van Hooijdonk on a loan with an option to buy.

That could well be it, just curious that the rumors linking them to a big money 6 died down too.
From the way it's sounded. Tuchel thinks they really need a true 6, the front office thinks Kimmich is already said 6 and Kimmich thinks he is as well. The latter, of course, are all sorely mistaken.
