That's certainly true. Just saying you can build a CL-caliber midfield with room for internal growth for around that Alexis figure...even accounting for the EPL-tax. Obviously need to scout well and get the right mix of players, but that's true of any transfer.
Yeah exactly. I mean for me for my “Luigi” signing I’d rather try to get a PnP guy like Khephran Thuram and get an alpha like Barella. I think that would be a smarter use if funds. I don’t like signing the B guy before signing the A guy. Need to get the A guy in first and build around them. Alexis is a fantastic cog, and he is great because he can play with basically anyone; and unlike Mount he is actually a midfielder. But again, they need a top dog in there and I would have done that first. Now you need to get an athletic alpha guy in and that’s a lot harder to find. Kind of on the same path as this but LFC bored to find a way to generate more width. Mac Allister isn’t helping with that. He is an upgrade but is he helping the things LFC is bad at? That’s kind of my point

Dortmund being linked to Gift Orban & Hugo Larsson

Ekitike to Leipzig has picked up a lot of steam as a bunch of BuLi clubs have been linked to him.

BMG's Nico Elvedi is getting linked to Roma.

Frankfurt have joined the mix for Leandro Morgalla

Well somebody is definitely going to pick him up, teams aren't going to wait just because he's only been at Gent since January. Dude has 20 goals in 20 games since arriving it's crazy. Everything he touches goes in.

Thing is though, if he doesnt score, he's barely noticeable out there. He barely gets involved in play and kinda disappears. Until he gets another goal out of nowhere of course

But yeah Bundesliga would be a good move for him. Same goes for Gent's other striker, Hugo Cuypers. He's got 23 goals as well. I could see him being very useful for teams just below top 4.

Now Victor Boniface I thought was headed towards the BL as well but the way he keeps playing (another great goal vs Genk tonight) and getting stronger I think soon EPL teams will come knocking. His physical strength is incredible.

Cuypers has been linked to cooler Borussia extensively for weeks now. With Thuram leaving them they need a goalscorer.

Boniface should come play CL football with the cooler Union :yo:

ESPN (so grain of salt) reporting that Chelsea made an 80M offer for Vlahovic
Please no. I’m begging BEGGING people to stop falling for Serie A strikers who have 1.5 good seasons inflated by penalties. Vlahovic is less of a disaster than Kristof Piatek, but we gotta have more scrutiny.

Vlahovic is a striker who is only helping the team if he scores goals and he has 8 non PK goals this season. That’s less than Darwin Nunez

Vlahovic is good but they bought an entire team that doesn’t play his style lol. Total disaster that would be.

Pending on price, I would take Lavia. Could always get him minutes in the Europa and bringing him along. Since he came over to England at 16, would he qualify as home grown? I know that's not everything... but could be a factor when you've taken out Ox and Milner. He could spell Fabinho, learn on the job, and take the time to integrate.

Price is obviously the factor.

Liverpool are gonna speak to a ton of dudes before this summer, but I would not be surprised to see the moves hammered out before the window opens so they can get the maximum time working with Klopp this summer.

You have to figure Southampton are gonna demand at least 50M for him. Even if you can talk them down to 40, can Liverpool really afford to spend 40m on a backup midfielder given how thin their midfield is?

There's two points of contention I would have in response.

On the money front, if it's 40, or even 50, if that's installments and relatively low wages (which you would expect), it's not really a difficult price. I think there might be some other players who could be more warranted money wise, but I don't think that's a major outlay.

Second, I think they have more in the midfield than many feel or think. If Jones plays like he has, Fabinho can find his form (he really seemed worn out this year at the start), Bajectic is healthy again in the fall, then, I think there's some wiggle with whomever they add. they likely will get at least one top level player who is going to come in and play the majority of the matches. So, adding a player like Lavia, with the expectation that he plays 15 or so starts, and maybe another 10-15 sub appearances, would certainly be a decent use of funds for that price.

If you add MacAllister, one other quality midfielder, and maybe Lavia, and that's a pretty different group, with Henderson, Jones, Fabinho, Thiago, Elliott, Bajectic, with likely the continued idea of playing TAA in the midfield as well. If anything, that might be one player too many.

So this is happening but it’s a short term deal; only signing in for one window guaranteed (+/- 3 months)

Looks like plan is Mac Allister and Mount for midfield and then they are shifting the priority to defense. They definitely need defense but I wouldn’t be happy with that work in midfield.

I like Lavia a lot but even with the EPL-bonus that seems wild. You can buy Kone or Thuram for less than that and both are much better atm with similar ceilings.

In serious news; Union has gotten permission to bring Kral in for next season. And in crazy rumor-mongering we are apparently monitoring Balogun

Dawid Kownacki's move to Werder is done.

Ditto Grant-Leon Ranos' move to BMG; while 18yo Chilean Damian Pizarro has started getting linked to the cooler Borussia.

Joao Palhinha is apparently on the list of 6s Bayern's looking at to free Kimmich, Goretzka, and Gravenberch up more. Laimer is already secured and they're also being linked to Rice & Alvarez.
