My favourite @cgf overhype is Geis

D'you mean Weigl? I feel like there was a Geis v Weigl thing amongst some german fans and I was firmly on the Weigl side of that one...though I may just be remembering it that way because of how loud the schalke fans were back when they got him from Mainz

Or maybe Neuhaus? IIRC I hyped him more than Geis when he was trying to singlehandedly drag Dusseldorf to the first division.

Nope, def Geis. I remember you being a big fan in ~2014 or so, while he was still at Mainz. Also recall some stuff about Schalke being long-term scary with an all-German midfield of LeGo, Max Meyer, and Geis.

Gotcha, I did like him back for Mainz, but didn't remember being high on him like I was Dahoud or Weigl. Though I did tend to hyperbole more often back then, so I'm not shocked lol.

Schalke's academy was a machine back in the day...despite what happened with Meyer & Avdijaj

Saw this name in another thread and thought it belonged. Joe Gomez. And before that, Flanagan
Joe Gomez (i am not his biggest fan) has had a very good career and not much over the top hype on here.

Woodburn is definately one. What a bad player he has developed into.

In fairness Gomez did get hurt badly. One ACL one patella one broken leg that didn’t heal right and had to be operated on later. No player will ever reach their hype with all those problems.

Yeah I dunno what the criteria is here. Are we acknowledging injuries or just kids that didn't live up to the HFHype, for whatever reason that may be?

Cause there's a difference between kids whose bodies failed them (Gomez/Götze), kids whose egos got the better of them (Dahoud/Draxler), and kids who just were never as skilled as they looked early on (Werner/Sterling).

Yep. Lot of folks have had a short spurt of greatness.

Becker > Nkunku

BTW there's reportedly a verbal agreement between Flekken & Brentford. Exciting news for Noah Atubolu, who's helped lead SCFII to 2nd place in the 3rd division.

EDIT:
Which reminds me of someone I was as abnormally high on as I was Dahoud...Marc Andre ter Stegen...

Yeah me personally I wouldn't count anyone who suffered devastating injuries. Guys like Meyer, Woodburn, Iwobi, those are a totally different story. Ascacibar is another good one. Or at the time Halilovic.

Was waiting for that name to be up although not sure why dybala is up when Paco is better.

Ascacibar suffered injuries and a shitty environment.
