It was a joke, but the parallels between them both joining a non-competitive/disappointing club for stupid money, throwing their toys on the pram, and the ties to Saudi Arabia are pretty funny. And I’ll say it’s “interesting” to see the contrasting reactions to it, not just here.

What do you mean by the contrasting reactions? I think everyone who's not a homer can see that these two are money-hungry without any real interest in the morality of what they're doing.

A lot of Messi fanboys out there talking about “he just wants to go home” lol. I think Ronaldo’s antics have gone on longer, so the cope is less fresh. Messi always had more insulation on that front, so the veneer has lasted longer.

LFC need to be testing Madrid for Camavinga and/or Tchouameni if this happens. I’m not the only one who is going to have this idea

There's no way RM are letting go of Camavinga or Tchouameni.
Camavinga is, and will be - by all that he's shown so far - absolutely elite; and Tchouameni, while he's struggled after the WC, has shown in the first half of the season he'll be a rock for them in the midfield.

I think this is a good move for RM, getting Jude. They might have to change the way they play, but Kroos and Modric will surely be around for just one more season, as veterans and mentors.

They're not getting Mbappe or Haaland though, so it'll be interesting to see what they do with the striker role - especially if they lose to City.

I do not think we are getting Mbappé ever. That ship has sailed and the relationship with PSG is not good. That plus Vini is already playing Mbappé's position and Rodrygo has established himself on the right. Mbappé is better than both, but he is not a need. If you can get him, you definitely do because he is the best in the World, but I do not think we can.

Haaland, I have a little more hope. The rumor was always that he was looking into coming to City for 2 years and then move to Madrid. That being said, I do not see Madrid being able to give him as much money as City. Contrary to Mbappé, he is a total and complete need for us, especially after next season.

They don't play the same position.
I doubt Madrid sells any of them.
Yes, but there are a very limited number of spots in the midfield. The most you can play is 4, but 3 is the average without upsetting other positions in the formation that Madrid wants to play.

Messi to PSG has to be one of the biggest mistakes recently in football that is only unseated by Barca making him leave in the first place.

I second this

If Messi ends up going to Saudi Arabia then you can compare him to Cristiano, who I didn't see wanting to go back to Sporting. Messi would have only played for Barcelona if it weren't for Tebas and Laporta.

Yeah, how in the world would they have registered any players. They can barely do it now. He couldn't play for free, and they couldn't pay him under the table like City.

There is a huge difference though. If Messi goes back, he is not just going back to Barca because it is Barca, he will go back because he feels they can contend for the CL.

Sporting did not offer that to Ronaldo and Madrid would not take him back.

Very different situations.

Honestly whatever Messi or Ronaldo do for now won't erase what they did in the past. I do not agree with players looking like mercenaries and go for the highest money available but both have achieved it all at club level and their next contract might be their last. In the case of Messi the biggest worry is when will he retires? I still think he has another Copa and maybe even another WC in him to win, it would be a shame to lose him like that.

They probably aren’t, but it would be really silly to not even try

Bellingham to Madrid leaves for Camavinga and Tchouameni, but you have to remember they also have Valverde. The way things have been going recently, room to play all four of them, though if you do so perhaps Camavinga at LB or Valverde out wide. Still, if you're going to maximize Madrid long term and/or play everyone in their best position/keep everyone happy then you might run into a problem down the road.

Yes, but how many of those will want to play second fiddle riding the bench?
I guess, but given that Kroos, Modric, and Ceballos are all likely to be gone in the next year or two, I'm not sure the calculus is changing that much

Exactly. Would have figured that was the obvious point, but apparently not.
This is like saying Pedri is available if Barcelona signs a midfielder because they also have Gavi, Busquets, FdJ, Kessie, and Roberto. If you genuinely feel that way, fine, say it, but I have a feeling if it were Barca signing Bellingham and someone said that Liverpool should go after Gavi or Pedri, your tune would be very different.
