Bills look to be seeing the Jets', Giants', and Eagles' throwbacks this season (and perhaps more that haven't been announced yet).

The giants game is their color rush uniform unless I'm reading that wrong. Which makes me wonder if the Bills will be in their all red, since usually the color rush games are both teams.

My team (12 team keeper/ PPR). We werent allowed to keep our first round pick from last year or the player we kept last year. Also, only allowed to keep one.

Format: QB,RB, RB, WR, WR, WR, TE, FLX, K, DEF

Team
QB: Lamar, Cousins
WR: A. St. Brown, C Kirk, M Evans, J Mingo, M Brown, J Meyers, H Renfrow
RB: J Jacobs (keeper), N Harris, Mattison, Mostert, Robinson (WAS), T Spears
TE: Kelce
K: J Sanders
DEF: Eagles

I went auto-pick for the final 2-3 rounds, so a couple players may be dropped before the season starts.

There were a couple of RBs on the board I liked when I picked, but I really only liked Hopkins at WR at that point. So I took him and still got Mattison on the way back.
What's your outlook for Mattison? Im hoping him or Harris can become a good RB2 for me as I already have Jacobs for my RB1. I never do any research prior to the draft, and rely on the sites rankings and a bit of research on downtime between my picks, so Im far from an expert.

I always go heavy on RBs because the pickings are bare in a 12 team league once the season starts. An injury to one of my top-2 backs has derailed my season in the past, so I always try to find a back to stash on the bench who can get me a steady 10-15pts if one of my main guys go down.

Anyone have any tips on drafting for a fantasy football league? This will be my first time ever doing it.

My brother in law recently passed away suddenly. He and my sister used to draft a fantasy team together every year. He would get pretty involved in the draft.
She still wants to do it this year in his memory but was worried about doing it on her own so I offered to help even though I have no clue what I’m doing. lol
I really want to do a good job for her though.

Any good sites people would recommend? I don’t really know how to value players or when to draft them. Any tips as far as what positions to draft in what rounds? Like what should we go for first and what should we wait on?
Is there some type of decent blueprint to follow?

The draft is in a few days. I’ve been trying to read up but I’d appreciate any help!
In terms of concrete tips, I'd just throw out that one of the biggest mistakes newbies make is overdrafting QB. It's the most important position in real life, but in fantasy not so much. There's about 8 guys (Allen, Mahomes, Hurts, Jackson, Herbert, Burrow, Fields, Dak) that have a good chance at being near the top in fantasy scoring, just wait and grab one of them when there's only a couple left.

In terms of strategy, I'm finding I love the value on WRs way more than RBs in the middle rounds (rounds 3-7 or so), and because of that I'm focusing more on RB the first couple rounds so I don't have to reach at that position when I like the WR value more. I find myself frequently taking a RB round 1, then not again until much later. RB2 will be a struggle for me, but I just hate passing up better WR talent.

Finally, know that TE is Kelce then a meteor sized tier drop to Andrews and the rest of the tier 2 guys. Only one you should be taking high is Kelce, and otherwise I'd treat it like QB where you just wnat to make sure you get one of the top 9 or so guys.

Don't draft K or D until the last 2 rounds.

Basically mirrors my strat, down to the named players  Only note @WeDislikeEich would be to note your draft position and make sure you're in a snake draft. That's the standard but leagues that have been around a while might do ordered (even if it's not dynasty). That can influence whether I go RB or WR 1/2 and what round I draft a QB (super early or late position picks, you might need to overdraft to get one worthwhile).

Otherwise I just go on autopilot and take BPA depending on need. Be active with injury management/waiver wire and don't be shy about trades but be smart and always counter offer. I don't take it that seriously but that strategy usually lands me in the playoffs

What’s the upshot? I assume they’re saying Cincinnati?
They have Tim Graham answer for the Bills side and Paul Dehner Jr. for the Bengals side and then there is a reader poll at the end.

Here is how they both answered the QB question:

The question we lay out: Who would you rather be for now and for the next three years?

Quarterback

Bengals

Burrow did in three years what many rightfully doubted could ever be done in Cincinnati. He changed the culture and turned the Bengals into one of the premier franchises in the NFL. He’s won five playoff games in the last two years, equaling the total from the previous 53 years of the organization’s existence. He’s already the franchise’s single-season leader in passing yards, touchdowns, passer rating and 300-yard games. Including the playoffs, he’s been PFF’s top-graded quarterback for two consecutive seasons. He won in 2021, eviscerating teams with the deep ball at a league-leading 8.9 yards per attempt. Then, as defenses bombarded him with two high safeties last year to take that away, he morphed into a precision king, leading a top-five offense by mastering the underneath and check-down throws and dropping his sack rate dramatically. It’s not just that Burrow has been great on the field or revolutionary off it, it’s that he’s still evolving. The defining drive for the Lombardi is the lone box that remains unchecked.

Bills

Burrow is scintillating, but “Madden NFL 24” cover boy Josh Allen might be the best quarterback not named Patrick Mahomes, with a dual-threat ability everybody else covets. Neither the jukiest nor the fastest, he is Buffalo’s best runner, and at about 240 pounds punishes defenders. Allen owns a surface-to-air missile of an arm. His biggest college question — accuracy — has been long answered. He also has been sensational against Kansas City. In five career games, all but one at Arrowhead Stadium and including two in the postseason, he has completed 62.4 percent for an average of 276 yards, with 14 TDs and only two interceptions. Take away victory formation kneel-downs, and he has averaged 6.8 yards per rush with a TD and 24 first downs. And that’s the biggest issue with Allen overall: his aggressive style, which makes Bills fans hold their breath every time he tries to extend a play. A significant injury always has seemed one hit away, something with which Bengals fans can sympathize. Allen’s play after partially tearing the UCL in his throwing elbow last year dropped him from MVP favorite to mere Pro Bowler.

Here is how the poll is going right now:

It's a narrow margin, but I'd say Cincinnati. An improved Dorsey play-calling season, and a better tackling defense for Buffalo would push them ahead IMO.

Right now, I like Cincinnati's weapons on offense, how they utilize them, and I like their line play overall. I also think the Bengals defense is underrated and a major reason for their success last season.

Cincy's defense steps the f up in the playoffs. The Bengals don't make the SB two years ago if their defense doesn't completely neuter the Chiefs offense in the second half and OT. I honestly believe Allen would have a SB to his name if he played for the Bengals. Burrow is a savage, but we haven't seen him completely dominate games in the playoffs like we've seen from Allen and Mahomes.

I'm not so sure the margin is that narrow right now. Cincy's DC is/was vastly superior to Frazier, even if the Cincy D as a whole might be a bit less talented. Cincy's DC gets the best out of their talent while Frazier got what I consider to be an average amount out of the talent on our D last year.

Let's see what McDermott does -- if it's more of the same, the margin is decent-sized. If McDermott is more aggressive and more multiple and can get something more out of our D-line.

Offensively, it's a push. Cincy is more talented at WR and RB, but we're far better at TE. QBs are basically an eye-of-the-beholder thing; if you like a dual threat QB, you'll take Josh. If you like a more traditional QB who looks to throw before scrambling, you'll like Burrow more. O-lines are basically a push.

The talent level between Cincy and Buffalo is pretty damned similar overall. It's all going to come down to coaching at this point. As I said earlier --- the BIG difference between the two is that Cincy's DC gets the absolute most out of Cincy's defense.....Buffalo's DC hasn't gotten to that level.

Kelce hyper-extended his knee. It's gonna be real interesting watching that KC offense if they have to go a couple of games without him. They don't really have that primary steady pass catching threat without him and that's how KC's offense has operated since Hill left...

If the Bills can pull a 2 game lead out the gate that would be a nice cushion.
