And they could have the same record next year with a highly rated farm system and you'd say the same exact thing.
It's not that simple.

They could have a better record next year, but if they aren't taking steps towards sustainability, I'd criticize them. If they're getting big decisions wrong, then I'll criticize them.

Then you're just gonna be on this endless chase for sustainability, always looking to the future over the present season. I don't know, just don't get it.

If they're doing the right things and getting the big decisions right, the present will take care of itself.

How can you predict that. Sox have never won with the Tampa model so there is no evidence this plan will succeed. their 4 WS in 86 years were won spending and thats how theyll always be won

Lololol. Imagine wording it like this. Sox are one of the most MLB successful franchises in the last 2 decades. Unless you’re 86 years old, and lived through all, let’s cut the BS about 4 in 86. Give me a break.

Hell baby
So they couldn't sell 1 or 2 to acquire a pitcher?
I would’ve preferred it, and apparently they did try to get Rich Hill for another stint. Ultimately they probably decided that the risk of finding a full time starter out of Houck/Whitlock/Sale is a better bet to take than to give up assets for somebody who doesn’t slot in long term

Again, I would’ve preferred a backend rotation addition. I can see the logic they have though

Just noticed the Orioles are in 29th in terms of payroll(oakland), 1/3 of the Sox, damn.
Ultimately I don't care what the payroll is as long as you win. I just think you have more resources than most teams, the big league club in Boston should be further along by now even while you're trying to lower the payroll.

The very best teams in baseball are all putting their own spin on some version of what you're referring to as the Tampa model.

The 2023 Underdog Red Sox. I'm riding with Kenley's approach.

Sliky Reese with a Homer. Welcome back!

McGuire is conservatively speaking about 100x better at being a major league player than Alfaro
If only he had Alfaro's hair, tbh.
