Hell baby
Yeah I’d rather have both Bernardino and Sherriff over him as LHP out of the pen. Looks very unimpressive. Willing to attribute some of it to his late start to the season but he’s not trustworthy at all.

Don't let their 500ish record fool you. This team absolutely sucks. Moreover, Bloom's vaunted minor league system is not good either.
I mean I do tend to agree it's not a good team. I was holding out hope they would stay in contention but ultimately I don't see it happening. 4th place was fun baby!

Diamond Sports Group told the Padres that it would not make its rights fee payment by tonight’s deadline, meaning that the media rights will revert back to the team, sources tell SBJ's John Ourand.

MLB will produce the Padres' Wednesday game in Miami, with the same announcers -- who are employed by the team -- and many of the same producers and directors and camera operators, who work as freelancers. A source says MLB will stream the team’s games for free through Sunday. The league also plans to make the games available via outlets like Fubo, DirecTV, Cox and Charter. Station numbers will be released tomorrow.

And there it is! Yet another Chaim Bloom puff piece from the Globe. No doubt held until the Bruins and Celtics seasons were over. LOL

That being said, full respect and gratitude to his grandfather and all those from the greatest generation who fought in the trenches in WW2.

I mean, yes? That seems normal and reasonable to me. They gotta fill the paper with something, so an evergreen piece about the Red Sox GM is exactly the kind you hold back on until you no longer have a playoff team to cover.

ESPN did their 1st MLB Mock Draft and they have the Red Sox taking SS Jacob Wilson at #14.

from espn.com:

14. Boston Red Sox

Jacob Wilson, SS, Grand Canyon

The board is hitter heavy at this point and the Red Sox are looking at some safer, hit-first college players here, while targeting some upside/overpay types like Georgia prep shortstop Tai Peete later on. Mitchell and Aidan Miller are also candidates at this pot from the prep side. There's a perception that Wilson has slipped from a top-10 lock due to his lack of raw power, with teams opting for higher upside types. I think this is as low as Wilson or Bradfield will fall.

I get that MLB drafts just end up being BPA since it's a good 4-5 years before most of them will make it to the show, if they even do, but we've taken shortstops high in the first round 2 years in a row and have a glut of middle infield prospects, so I can't really see them going the SS route again. Though it may be Bloom's philosophy that you draft SSs because they have the versatility and athleticism to move off position.

My response to this is that the best players in high-school are playing SS.
