Robin Benoit will also play hockey in the USPHL Premier with Bakersfield as stated on his eliteprospects page.

You should look at prep hockey as well. This player will surprise a lot of people, Danèv Paquin.
My list already includes prep school players. I have never heard of this player before and it has never been mentioned by anyone on this forum, ever. His Elite Prospect shows he played M15 D2 last year. Even if playing prep school will definitely help him become a better player and even if I believe that young players can progress and that some will surprise us, I personally don't see him in the QMJHL draft list.

He played M18D2 at the age of 14 not M15D2.

But maybe I am wrong too. He played against my son few times last year and he impressed me. But again, this is so tough at this age to say how good and how far they are gonna go. You are probably right.

I understand that you are a parent of an M18D2 player. Thus, you have seen your kid evolve in his league and with this very limited viewing the comparison with all the eligible players is simply impossible.

Imagine all the players available from all leagues in all provinces that QMJHL teams can choose from? Only talking about Quebec players from all leagues: M18D1, M17AAA, M18AAA, it's very hard to get along. And, as you mentioned, some players play outside of those leagues, prep's part of that.

As said before, I've never heard of him and couldn't find any other scouts who mentioned him on this site. Maybe time will prove me wrong but my call remains the same for the CSR roster and the 2023 QMJHL Draft.

But the QMJHL Draft isn't the end of the road. How many players not on this annual list have made it through professional leagues, including the NHL.

I'd say it's almost impossible to compare or project an 07 in M18D2 at this time in Q draft list at this time. Ideally if he is very strong - he should not have played in that league IMO - should have played M15D1 - that would be my honest advice. There is not enough high end talent to draw comparisons at the level that is being discussed here even though there might be a few good players in the league. If he did good in the league (say top 15 in points) it won't translate because of the speed/IQ of the game at the high end, if he did bad (say lower then then the top 100) it won't translate because he's too young. I'd always recommend a U15/U16 route and not a U18 if going the US prep route.

CHA Eagles from Fredéricton, have put a U16 teams and from what I’ve heard from last weekend games against à Fredéricton U18 teams, that there goalie Samuel Quimper was dominating, he even finish Saturday’s game with 2 passes making him the second best scoring player on is teams, i’ve seen him play last august at the U16 HNB try-out and he was the best goalie on the ice. I’m pretty sure that he will be draft pretty quickly next summer.

Saw most round robin Q cup games online and the bronze and gold in person. Lots of great players out there.

All star team for me is
Wheeler
Sim
Kiever
Colette
Conrad
Quimper

Sim was the most dangerous offensively. Extremely high skill level and a lethal shot for his size. Attacks with a purpose and has outstanding hands. Led tourney in scoring for a reason. Will be interesting to see where decides to play next year.
Kiever is the smartest player in this age group, never makes a mistake, makes tough plays in tight areas look easy, and makes others better. Great chemistry with Sim. First time I’ve seen him on the wing but he was the best winger in the tournament. Liked him as QB on PP also.
Wheeler best all around forward with size, skill, smarts, and great agility. Huge step forward since last season. He is going to put up big numbers this year. So good at maintaining control of pucks in traffic.
Colette looks like a little Tory Krug. So smooth and dynamic. No other Defensemen like him this year
Conrad is a physically stronger than everyone else and has really good feet. Could be a defensive minute muncher at maturity.

Honorable mention

Arnold
Pilgrim
Carrol
Peddigrew
Michaud
Kilfoil
Allaby
Morais
Chandler
Roop
Wagner
Foston
Stottard
Macguigan
Murphy

Caper boys had a great showing.
Pilling was steady as always. Great on the PK and PP and showed off his intelligence. Definitely miss him on the island.
Sinclair got off to a rough start but got better as week went along, peaking in the finals. Reunited with Pilling in later games and you saw the chemistry return. Can’t believe how much he’s grown. Needs to get use to his new size and get stronger on pucks.
Stonehouse won both of his matchups and handled himself very well keeping the team in both games early until the offense took over.

First round potential for the all stars I listed as well as
Chandler- great size, very good puck distributer and high level of complete.
Killfoil- very underwhelming this weekend. Feet looked not great and got bumped off his game easily. Still showed high end flashes and scored a big goal in the final. Pack is catching up though.
Murphy- absolute beast out there. Man size and strength already at 15. A bit undisciplined with his physicality and took some untimely penalties. But this kid has a pro future.

I agree with most of your list @GermanSpitfire besides Jonathan Prud'homme.

In my opinion, an opinion based on my viewing of all his game, including his pre-season's, he is overrated! He is one of those players who will have to better adapt to this level.

I still ask myself why Hemrick Carbonneau didn't make the Granadiers. Carbonneau made the M18AAA playing for Amos Forestier's. I definitely would have keep him instead of Prud'homme. But hey, this is just my opinion!

I have watched most Qc M18AAA matches in the last 5 weeks. Some 15-year-old players are struggling (for some it is very hard) to adapt. It's a much faster and more physical game than Bantam AAA.

The big names on my list will need to up their game to continue being first rounders.

As previously discussed on this forum, other players I see well positioned in the Q 2023 draft have opted out of being M18AAA players. There are as many reasons why this choice was made as there are players.

I watched the first M18D1 game of one of them, Gabriel Lopez Courcy. He's a player I started following last year; he's a great 15-year-old prospect, he definitely has the size and the skills! he glowed like a neon light at this level. He will conjure up spells that will bewitch the mind and captivate the senses, all season long! I will definitely continue following him!

Since last year, he has gained confidence. I saw him controlled the game very well, especially on the power play. He gave himself and his teammates plenty of chances to score. Although the match ended 0 - 0, he scored not one but two goals which were disallowed for questionable reasons. I checked the replay on LiveBarn and both were good goals. Unfortunately, video replay is not part of referees tools at this age.

My main point here is that some non-M18AAA players will definitely make the Q roster. The old guard mentality that there is a one way ticket for M18AAA players and nothing for everyone else is certainly not today's reality.

At what round do you see him go?
