My main point here is that some non-M18AAA players will definitely make the Q roster. The old guard mentality that there is a one way ticket for M18AAA players and nothing for everyone else is certainly not today's reality.
What M18 D1 players are you think that went from there to the Q? I don't think it's an old guard mentality that most players come from M18AAA(M17 ESP) out of Quebec. There are lots of options but those leagues are a consistent path for kids to showcase there skills and jump to the next level. They have proven this every year, for good reason.

At what round do you see him go?
Although I gave Gabriel Lopez Courcy ( Gabriel Lopez Courcy at eliteprospects.com ) as an example, my opinion of him is very positive.

He is a mature 2007 player. He uses his IQ, his skills and his 6 feet and 181 pounds very well!

His greatest progress will be driven by improving his lack of self-confidence. Playing M18D1 instead of M18AAA - and therefore being use a lot - will fill that out pretty quickly!

While it's hard to predict his exact progression and where his newfound confidence might take him, at the moment I don't see him like one of the first rounders.

I think it's still too early to determine someone's rank on the CSR list. (I already think that December is early for a prelist, October is even much earlier). I will continue to follow him and all this will be much clearer in December.

You are right, about 50% of players entering the QMJHL come from the M18AAA or the M17AAA league.

The other 50% includes players from other leagues, respectively, other leagues from Quebec, the Atlantic provinces, the United States, Europe and a few from elsewhere.

About fifteen players come from "other leagues in Quebec" and this comes mainly from the M18D1.

What I mean, and you can look for "old guard" thinkers in some previous threads, is that not only M18AAA players will be on the CSR list... and some of them although not first rounders (I've already given some examples), might surprise us!

Last year QMJHL draft roaster included 8 players from RSEQ. This year might be a little bit more but non will hit the first round for sure.

How many scouts show up at every M18-AAA game? How many at every Espoir game? How many at every RSEQ D1 game? How many games Espoir and RSEQ are available on Instats? How many staff/hours are spent on M18-AAA vs Espoir and RSEQ? You don't even need to spent time comparing.

In 2021, 12 RSEQ were drafted and only Larose (2nd round) made it. The kid had 109 points in 28 games the year before Covid. In 2020, 6 RSEQ were drafted and only Rondeau (5th round) made it. Last draft there was 7 RSEQ players and non before round 4. A few invite players coming from RSEQ probably filled a 13-14 forward spot or 7-8 defence position.

To think that RSEQ is the new road for QMJHL is not an opinion that I share.

When I see obvious parental marketing (with couple of nickname on the same IP Address), I always think about the kid who's placed under the scope. Sad for him. No scouting staff relies on any information shared on this forum. We see that every year, just need to go back in previous prospects topics to confirm my point.

No more instat for scouting due to geo political situations in the world. It's a Russian company. HUDL now.

No staff relies on this board to make decisions - that is certain. I think some of the information from some of the posters is quite accurate, insightful and enjoyable to hear. When a parent posts (or someone very related to the player) it's usually noticeable and cringy. Parents are proud and they should be - lots of good hockey players and even kids that don't make it put so much time and effort in - and that is worthy and to be respected, however posting here will not help your kid to be "discovered".

With all this said I do love discussing underdogs and unknowns, late birthdays, top U16 etc as well. So it's all welcome to me.

Disagree with nothing in this. I know I have not been to any RSEQ game yet this year but have been to many U18 AAA and Espoir games.

For RSEQ, I generally rely on showcases and very rarely go to individual games, and I think many scouts do the same. There is nothing wrong with playing in that league, but you will likely have to really dominate it to be looked at as a potential Q prospect.

I can't speak for every level but I can confirm that Instats is still used by CHL. After each game every team and players receive their report.

On another subject, don't get me wrong: I think that there are pretty good hockey players in every league including RSEQ. I strongly believe that every player follows his own path and that good players can emerge at any time coming from anywhere. That being said, I don't believe that there has been a great change in hockey culture in the last few years, espacially in terms of scouting assignment. The scouting for Q Teams has been done the same way for years and I don't project any big change in the culture anytime soon (M18AAA is the top priority, Espoir is nice to see when possible, RSEQ if someone is very dominant we'll take a look at him during one of the few showcases).

How does he compare to his brother Joas ?
you must mean Josh...i actually never knew they were related...Tynan has better size and strength...great shot, excellent hands and excellent IQ...I found when i watched him he needs to work on his explosivness but IMO he is in one of the best programs in the USA for development and is thriving right now on their U14 team...future is bright for this guy IMO

Agree with everything you said - skating might but an issue, very smart player - seems to always be in good opportunities to put himself in position to make a play on both ends of the ice.

I don’t know if he‘ll go first like you said - next year, early on looks to be a pretty good year in the QMJHL but he’ll certainly be one of the guys in the discussion.
