I have Chandler, Rhyno, Keiver, Conrad, Peddle in round 1. I only know the NS group at this age.
I totally agree with this and think there will be a lot of maritime players in this first round.
Chandler- Very good strong forward that can put the puck in the net and has great speed. I’ve watched him in many occasions and think he will be the best in this years draft out of the maritimes. His hockey IQ is out of the roof and can make plays and see the ice like nobody else

Rhyno- I have watched him play a few times and have seen very great progress. He is very shifty and has very good speed and is very good in the offensive zone and he will be up with Chandler for the qmjhl draft. Just imagine seeing those two play with eachother this year with the Steele subs u18aaa.
Keiver- I’ve watched this kid a few times and was really impressed with his Iq on the game and he can see where everyone is on the ice. He is an amazing playmaker with an amazing shot and great speed. He makes plays that nobody even knows and reminds me and many of Kent Johnson
Conrad and peddle- they are both very talented and have a great offensive game with a great defensive game aswell I have watched them both play against eachother and wow it is an amazing sight to see those 2 top d play end to end hockey. They are very good players all around and can do stuff end to end and coming up the ice like nobody else.
Luke foley- I 100% see Luke Foley landing in the first round and don’t understand why people don’t give him alot of credit for his hockey skills. He is an amazing offensive guy with great talent him and chandler play a similar game it’s great to see.

Agree that those are 6 first round candidates.

Good year for Nova Scotia. A bit weaker in NB and PEI, although I think Kilfoil and Wheeler are top 5 talents in this draft, + Peddigrew is a first round candidate as well. It's just that the depth is not as strong in my opinion. Especially for defenders. I like the three Dieppe defenders but still.

I agree mostly with all the above Matias. Foley is much smarter than people give him credit for. Has been on an island in the Valley for years with not much to work with, yet he always made the right pass regardless of who it was to. Kids a hockey junkie too. Loves the game. Only worry with him is early maturity. He's been fully grown for a couple years and always had a size advantage. But he's around 5'11 and solid so more than big enough for Q hockey. He has a nasty edge to him also which will serve him well. Rocket of a shot too. Similar to Leighton Carruthers trajectory. Man strong very early. He will do well in the Valley with lots of opportunity this year.

Chandler and Rhyno would be effective this year for sure. add either Stevens or Malanna to that line and you'll have the best 07 line in the province hands down. Be interesting to see if Edwards returns from Bathurst camp. If he does, he will own the league. Subz have a plethora of options for his wings also.

Agree with your thoughts on Kiever. He makes passes that baffle me, so incredibly smart and creative in every zone. He's like Kidney was that way, toys with you. Needs to get quicker in first few steps and get stronger, but otherwise a very evasive and shifty player. Lures you where he wants you, and then buckles defenders and forcheckers with his edges and instant change of direction. He makes everyone on his team a better player, and breaks out of his end up the middle so easily. if you're on the ice with him, be ready on your stick always. He's growing now too. Prob close to 5'10 now I'd say.
Had some concerning hip issues this year and missed a lot of time with his team. Friend of mine up that way said it was a product of overuse during a growth spurt. He has grown over 7 inches since first year Bantam. all these kids are on the ice way too much.
He Seems to be past it now after a long break this spring/summer.
Extremely high ceiling for this kid. With his vision and gifted mind, he will be effective at every level. Agree with comparison to Kent Johnson. Xavier Bourgault also.
Heard he was down at Harvard's invite camp last week. Very smart, academically driven kid, will see what he choses to do next year. apparently His sister plays down stateside. RNS definitely an academically pathway.

Kilfoil is a terrific 2 way centreman. Not extremely flashy, just plays the right way. not to exaggerate, but he's Toews like, or even a B.O Groulx. doesn't cheat the game. Always errs on the defensive side of the puck which I truly respect in a young player. He will playing with kids up to 18 years old this year at Salisbury and he will have no issues and learn and mature a lot. he's a top 5 pick if he choses Q.

While I did not put Foley in my list he would have been my sixth at the time higher now to be honest. At the time I was worried about his growth potential but that does not concern me now. He plays well with good people and plays with all the confidence in the world. That can go a long way for a power forward. I’d put money on him playing in the q next year.

agree with all this and love the trajectory but I think a better playmaker and not quite as heavy which is good.

I understand that your roster is a start and could change a lot before the official QMJHL list.
But some of the players on your roster aren't even part of an M18AAA team, how do you think it's possible they'll be on the CSR officila list?

My draft list is made from my viewing and stats. Even if it is much too soon and we can't be sure of this year players development, I did place them in the order I think they would go if the draft was today! Some will improve tremendously this year. One of the reason I won't fight players position on the list. But at least, I think that all Quebec players is on this list!

Did I forgot anyone?

As for the non-M18AAA players, not only do I think some will make a surprising leap, but for some of them, being in a dominant position this year could help them develop even more!

As an example, these players have not made any M18AAA team this year: Arnaud Tardif, Gabriel Lopez Courcy, Robin Benoit. Do you really see them in the CSR list?

And do you have any idea where Mickeal Chapdelaine is playing?
I can't find it anywhere

Mickaël Chapdelaine (07, not to be confused with the Mickeal Chapdelaine 06), will play for Trois-Rivières Estacades (M18AAA) this year.

Apart from where and how they played last year, I don't know much more about Tardif and Benoit.

But when I think of players that can really develop this year being in the right seat, I'm thinking of Gabriel Lopez Courcy ( Gabriel Lopez Courcy at eliteprospects.com ) as one of them. I learned from one of his former teammates that not playing QM18AAA was a personal decision.

He probably will pay for that by not being as high as he would otherwise on the CSR December pre list. But scouts won't miss going to see him and teams will most certainly get interested. He have the size (6 feet and 180 lbs) and great skills. He is a great two-way player that can score as well as play defensively. He's great in puck control and play making. But he'll need to gain in self-confidence which is exactly what not playing QM18AAA at 15 will give him.

I also heard that he'll be loaned out to a Spanish team this December, so he can eventually tryout for the IIHF national team.

Like him, many players with a good development curve will be closely monitored by QMJHL teams and scouts. Like every year there will be surprises in the final list... as well as in the pick!

Thank you for the information @QcObserver21 ! I don't really know mutch Gabriel Lopez Courcy. From my notes, the only time I saw him play was at a QM15AAA tournament in Sherbrooke. I noted that he stood out from the rest, including giving several big hits and deftly setting up some plays. I will look for him and try to watch some of his games this season.

He played on the Vert & Noir team with Caleb Desnoyers and Emile Guite, two players who did the Gaulois Midget AAA team and will certainly be well placed in the 2023 QMJHL Draft.

I agree that the list could change during the year and that some players will surprise us. But I still consider that players unable to make a Midget AAA team at 15 will not be drafted in the first round.

Robin Benoit would have made M18AAA, but he decided to go in California for golf I believe.
