God does this ownership suck these days. John Henry walking into the press conference late, nobody from ownership answering questions

Breslow sounded like Carmine in human form. Just a complete robot. But I'm ready to see what he can do now.

Seidler went all in on the team this year and it totally blew up in his face.

Should put things in perspective when people argue that Henry should be spending more money on the Sox because he's rich and can afford it. Cohen and Seidler both took a bath this year. At least the Mets were able to sell off their higher prices assets at the deadline for good prospects, the Padres doubled down and got nothing to show for it, and Seidler's probably going to lose the team if they don't have an incredible year next year.
Um you are ignoring the team that just won the WS last night.

Not saying you're wrong, but I would suggest that in addition to their higher-salaried players performing at a high level, part of what made the Rangers really good this year was that they had a lot of "bang for your buck" players on the roster.

Going strictly by WAR, seven of their top ten players this year made less than $5 million. They had three All-Stars making the league minimum.

A lot of times, when teams with large payrolls struggle, that's the piece that they're missing.

Just win baby. Spend, don't spend. Do what you want Mr. Breslow but it's time to win. I don't want to hear anything about a multi year build. The farm system is good enough and there is money to spend. Be creative if you have to, be bold. Don't sit on your hands like Chaim Bloom.

Bingo.

Just out there and upgrade the team.

This is exactly correct. Seager and Semien were big FA signings 2 seasons ago. Eovaldi this year. That's 3 players, total. The rest of that roster was home grown or pulled off the cast-off pile from other teams.

DeGromm & Scherzer were big adds as well, but neither impacted this team at all this year.

The BIGGEST impact move they made was getting Bruce Bochy and Mike Maddux.......

One of those three players was named WS MVP and another went 5-0 in the playoffs with a 2.95 ERA. Of course you have to supplement a heavy payroll with some cheaper players but they aren't winning the WS without those two big guns. Maybe Tampa would finally get over that hump if they spent a little more money.

Or allowed Snell to stay in the game.

I know its not this simple, but I feel the same way about OL in football……

get as much good to great pitching as possible, no matter how you need to do it.

Trade vets, trade prospects, spend a lot, just find guys who don’t walk people and strike out people —— a lot.

I want a staff where Bello is the 4/5.

I think Breslow will do well. Go out and show us. Spend. And spend well. Yamamoto is the #1 target. Try to pry Shohei too. Swing big.

I hope he does well too. The problem is right now there is no way of knowing either way. He is smart, yes. But that doesn’t make him smart at this job. I just can’t get past that he was the last choice in a long list of experienced people who didn’t want to interview with them.

We shall see.
