The middle ground of both arbitrations look okay, and then we’re all set, for better or worse. Hopefully some of the kids can push and make for an interesting camp

Zacha & Coyle as top 2 centers v Florida 3-1

Bergeron, Krejci, Matthews, Taveras, Aho, and Necas as top 2 centers v Florida 1-11
Fair point, but even if there is some universe where the Bruins win a playoff round (or two) with Zacha/Coyle as 1C/2C there is no way they ever hoist a Cup. Regular season and even early playoff rounds mean nothing at the end of the day. I want the f***ing Cup.

I only cared about Cups before last year, now even moreso. Regular season and even early playoff rounds mean nothing at the end of the day. I want the f***ing Cup.
I don’t expert Zacha & Coyle to be the first like center on March 1 and maybe October 1

Truly hope you're right.

“In the NHL, teams can exceed the salary cap by 10% in the offseason. But the fun and games are over once the calendar turns to Opening Day. At that time, every team in the league must be cap compliant.”
This.

Really Dumb question here...when is the final day to be cap compliant?
No such thing as a dumb question, so I keep getting told.

While logical, I have a really hard time seeing Sweeney actually being able to acquire a 1st once the season gets going.

So it's sell something in the off-season or bust.

I disagree...although it wouldn't be ideal I think worst case scenario Sweeney could even sell Ullmark 50% retained kind of like how the Blackhawks did with Jake McCabe. Ullmark at 2.5m for a playoff run and another full season for a contender is insane value.

Makes no sense to retain Ullmark , you will need another goalie to replace him and that puts you back or close to where you were...........

As the Great Chris Berman once said, "There's no such thing as a dumb question only dumb people asking questions " Lol

It was all in jest and good nature though, as I agree there is no such thing as a dumb question.

Just read on trade thread Hanifin & Lindholm going to Calgary in August for Barkov & DuClair

Reunites Huberdeau with Barkov and Lindholm with Tkachuk

What is the latest point an UFA could sign with a NHL team and still qualify for the season and the playoffs?

Do you see Sweeney selling if the team is remotely in a position of a playoff spot?

Because I really don't. He hasn't been great at the sell, then buy method either. Which would involve a 2 part move.

He COULD do what you said, but I don't see Sweeney doing that unless they are like 95% out of the playoff picture, which I also don't see happening.

Which is why I think off-season or bust.

My wife and kids tell me the opposite on a near daily basis.

Be nice if they could figure out a deal with Cowtown. Lindholm would be a gamble in his last year and cost you a solid player or two but if he bought into the culture of this team and re-upped then that's a pretty big headache gone. He's not exactly a 1C but not far off and I like him better than the other names being bandied about in Western Canada.

Then again, maybe Krejci is coming back and I don't have a problem with Krejci/Coyle/Geekie down the middle (with Zacha able to step in) for three-quarters of a season.

True, but Sweeney hasn't been in this position before. I don't think he'd move Ullmark off a playoff team, but it would be interesting if he moved guys like JVR, Forbort and Shattenkirk. The younger players would have to do some good things but it would be nice to add a few picks at the deadline.
