I would rather trade everyone not named Pastrnak or McAvoy than try to compete with Coyle and Zacha as your top 2 centers. Seems like a good time to bottom out, which they will never do.

I don’t like this reasoning because it is too short sighted. Next off-season they will be rolling in cap space. The idea of dealing with these guys as the centers for a year IS “bottoming out” in the most relative sense possible. If they can’t pull off getting a center again next year, you can reopen the conversation. But why pull the plug early? Especially when you don’t own your 1st this year.

Gotta love the dumb articles/youtube videos like "TREVOR ZEGRAS OFFER SHEET FROM BRUINS????" when the team can barely afford Patrick Brown. Everyone's an insider in July apparently

There are so many what I call fake or click-bait-y hockey "news and rumors" sites out there now it's obscene.

I saw one yesterday talking about how the Bruins are working on a deal for JT Miller and his fresh 8 million dollar, 7 year contract.

OK then.

I think we'll start seeing some moves after all arbitration cases are closed.

So far it has. August is usually the worst month for hockey news but I can see some activity coming out of arbitration hearings.

The rumored Karlsson deal will likely still happen although it sounds more and more like Pittsburgh or bust.

I keep reading #46 is retiring. I wonder if giving him the C in the teams 100 year would coax him back. Play him 65 games and hope he is healthy come PO.

46-18-19 down the middle would get them a WC spot.
No I wouldn't give him the C to a player that publicly stated a decade ago he lags purposely in the regular season.

Is it a little strange that nothing has been said for Krejci? Wonder if he is leaning towards coming back...

I also wonder if Casey Mittelstadt could get "Zacha'd" in Buffalo. Both top ten draft picks. Devils committed to Hischier and Hughes up front and Buffalo has Thompson and Cozens. He was mostly used in a 3rd line role but had times where he looked great centering the 1st line.

If he comes close to getting 60 points again, he is probably going to command a hefty raise. It all depends if the Sabers view him as a core piece or not but they also have some seriously good center prospects like Savoie, Kulich, Ostlund (all first round picks). They also have Peyton Krebs...

I guess they could always move pieces around and maybe play Mittelstadt or someone else on the wing but might be an underrated target for center.

Love Donny but this is insane with the weak center depth the team has right now. It's a black hole.
Did you like the team Donny built last playoff run? I would venture to guess (you/the majority) here were ready for Stanley Cup parade. The # of serious injuries was too much to overcome.

Don did well ... thinking it's time you let this center depth thing go already. Need some faith Don can pull some out of his ar#$.

Don is doing what it takes to win a cup and maintain a competitive team. I say impressive.

Randy Sportak of The Hockey News views the Bruins as a promising trade option for the Flames, who may be faced with the unfortunate reality they’ll have to offload the contract of Elias Lindholm. For the Flames to consider a deal with the Bruins, Sportak insists that it would need to entail more than a single player, draft pick, or prospect. He proposes that defenseman Mason Lohrei should be the primary target in any potential trade. Winger Fabian Lysell and center Matthew Poitras could also be included to further strengthen the deal.

Maybe Anthony Richard is a darkhouse and can make this team?
Love his speed.

One of my new Binkys. Dude had an incredible run in the AHL and with the Habitants. Love his speed too!

BOSTON BRUINS PACKAGING PAVEL ZACHA FOR VANCOUVER CANUCKS J.T. MILLER

J.T. Miller was in the NHL trade rumors mill quite often last season but nothing materialized from the rumors. Yes, he has signed an eight-year contract extension with the Vancouver Canucks. That does not mean he can’t be traded. He could waive his no-move clause if he wants to play for a team he desires.

The Boston Bruins could be enticing to Miller and get the chance to play with a dynamic scorer like David Pastrnak.

This is the crap that drives me crazy. Hockey news guy writes an article saying the Bruins should be interested in Lindholm - not that anything is factual in saying that, just that they should be.

"Which is why the Flames should be talking turkey with the Bruins regarding Lindholm, or at least Mikael Backlund."

Then proceeds to start to lay out what he thinks should be in the deal.

Then the Hockey Writers grab onto said article, saying:

"both the Boston Bruins and Washington Capitals are believed to be interested in Elias Lindholm if the Calgary Flames fail to get him signed to an extension."

Citing the article above to make that claim. It's all crap and lazy "journalism". These aren't even of the "rumors/whispers/smoke/chatter" variety. It's a dude making up a scenario on his blog, then being picked up as if there is something real happening.

Debrusk to the Islanders Part Deux.

Here is my game 1 playoff C group vs Panthers next April

Elias Lindholm
Pavel Zacha
Charlie Coyle
Patrick Brown

I have no interest in paying Elias Lindholm until he's 36 or 37 years old.

I have no interest in renting him for a playoff run.

I hope Sweeney feels the same.

Lindholm in means Debrusk and Carlo out. Flames don't want lottery tickets.

I'd rather pay Debrusk for 6 years up to age 33 than pay an older Lindholm into those years where 99% of players fall off the map (34/35/36/37).

If Calgary wants to talk a Hanafin for Carlo trade I'm all ears.

What does TO want for William Nylander? I'd give him a long-term deal before I'd ever give it to Elias Lindholm.

If Don Sweeney had any brains at all, he'd be moving heaven and earth to get Erik Karlsson to Boston. After McDavid, there isn't a more dynamic player in hockey right now with the puck on his stick. Will never happen though so not even worth debating.

I have never been a Mittelstadt fan, he plays a soft game ( 101 hits in 277 games) . I would rather get a player like Shane Pinto, Sens have excess Centers when Josh Norris comes back, there is not much ice time for Pinto at Center.

And another:

"One trade partner for the B’s could be the Vancouver Canucks as they would love to shed some salary to free up some much-needed salary cap space."

There's nothing here. It's one guy saying they should be talking. Coulds and woulds and shoulds.

Garbage.
