What I think it comes down to is how can you obtain a 1st round pick from now until the TDL to flip for Elias Lindholm.

If you look at the forwards, it's just too bare to sell from IMO. You've lost Hall, Bergeron, Bertuzzi and presumably Krejci. I think Debrusk should be signed long term. They have no talent like him coming up any time soon to replace him.

Coyle likely doesn't have the value to return a 1st and neither do any of the UFA's. If they were to sell, Gryz, JVR, Forbort, and Shattenkirk they would return nothing more than second or third round picks.

That leaves the goalies...and although they don't typically hold a ton of value, I think you could definitely get a 1st or either Ullmark or Swayman. The goal would to obviously keep Swayman and build around him as a core player.

At the end of the day, what makes the most sense is to sell from a position of strength to address a position of weakness. I think they have to move Ullmark

No Ray Conniff Singers ?
If I had to sum up my childhood in one 8 track it was Ray Conniff and Engelbert Humperdink a close second

Homey & Release Me will forever be etched in my brain

Love is Blue comes in third

When Mad Men finished a season with that tune as Don Draper and his kids stared at the decrepit home he grew up in, I could not get out of my chair for 10 minutes

I was ready to head to Woolworth’s to buy 20 packs of baseball cards for a $1, some turtle food, and sit at the food counter and spin around till I fell off or told to get off

You can't beat the John Denver Muppet Movie Christmas album. Bob and Doug Mckenzie a close 2nd.
When we are all in due to covid I did my own 25 Christmas movies/shows including I love Lucy/Father knows Best/Flintstones etc

Dragnet actually had a Christmas episode / as did That Girl

The muppets Christmas Movie was very good - my kids were into muppets big time

I hope you included Emmett Otter’s Jug Band Christmas. A cinematic masterpiece.

I'm still into the Muppets big time. Muppets Treasure Island is a film classic.

That said, I'll take Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol over Muppets Christmas movie.

I wonder what Toews would have said about the Mitch Miller signing
Captain "Look the other way" Toews? I have no idea

While logical, I have a really hard time seeing Sweeney actually being able to acquire a 1st once the season gets going.

So it's sell something in the off-season or bust.

I'm hoping someone had the Bob & Doug movie in their top 25...

Coo loo coo coo, coo coo coo coo!

Sweeney should hold fast on making a move for a 1 C , lets open camp and the season and see what plays out , you might be surprised with who might step up and save Sweeney from the mess he is in............ Zacka might be that guy , he certainly has the skills and is playing with Pasta , my question is who is his LW ........I also want to give the kid Geekie a shot between Marchand , and DeBrusk ........To go out and trade for a #1 C you are going to need to subtract from what you have and not knowing fully what you have , lets play it out a bit ........Ialso still would like to make a move for a D-man at some point........Sweeney went for it all everyone was "GIDDY ' at the time and none of should deny it but in hindsight did he over pay . We all liked Bertuzzi coming here but really was he worth it , again with what he gave up across the board I think the only move he should have made was for Orlov,I know "hindsight ".......
I would like to add one more thought ,putting Cap issues aside and yes I know in reality you cannot , but for a one year contract at 5 mil would Taresenko not have been a good signing , your top 6 wings Marchand, Taresenko, DeBrusk , and Pasta ......would that not relive some of the pressure off the center position for a time without subtracting from you present roster ............

Not the end of the world if we can get both at the middle ground of arbitration.

Who are the 21st/22nd roster spots?

Looking at a lot of paper transactions sending guys up and down to save cap space.

Edit: Zboril and Mitchell

They will not go in without a 13th forward.
Do you see a trade happening? Because optimistically as it stands, doesn't look like it fits. Are paper transactions an option here?

That's Mitchell and Zboril. Zboril always should be listed last.
For someone with the word "quiet" in their username, your opinion on Zboril is loud and clear, always.

They can go 13 forwards and 7 dmen and be compliant.
So you are thinking a D -> F is in the works? Or just waiving one of Zboril/Mitchell and calling up a Providence forward?

Do you have a sense of organizationally how they feel about the depth players in both positions?

I would rather trade everyone not named Pastrnak or McAvoy than try to compete with Coyle and Zacha as your top 2 centers. Seems like a good time to bottom out, which they will never do.

Wouldn’t they waive Mitchell and then Brown/Greer is 13F pending who wins jobs?

Watching the way this board can turn from trade and arbitration talks into something random like Christmas in July always makes me happy. LOL.
Everyday is really Christmas when you have the Bruins, good or bad
