Monty wanted to see how Bergeron & Marchand looked separated - however, he didn’t spill the beans. He could have said I want to see how Marchand and Bergeron with a herniated disc look on different lines

I wish he at least tried it when he was healthy or so the regular season

An elimination playoff game with a guy coming back and playing hurt and the coach is curious how it will look

He had 82 games and he picks game 5

I don’t get it

Can’t see Zacha - Lohrei ???? Frederic Lysell Poitras ?
Zacha has promise and good value 4 year contract plus young. Don't like the idea of trading Zacha. Frederic doesn't do anything to entice Calgary.

Debrusk? one of the goalies? Poitras or Lysell? Lohrei would be a mistake.

Sooo .....

Do we have all the Lindholms yet?

:sarcasm:
Sweeney offer is Lysell, Poitras, and Frederic after arbitration for Lindholm 50% retained

I’m curious (in a Monty game 5 kind of way with his lines) why Sweens doesn’t add Hanifin like shrimp for 6.99 with that sirloin.

Gotta figure they would want Uber prospect Mason Louhri and a first in 25

It would basically make the next 8 months nothing more then figuring out who the 8th seed is we play in round one - and can Monty handle another Ferrari

I am petrified of another President Trophy crown

Maybe Sweens wants a WC no pressure keep the prospects and picks and be an underdog ?

Look of questions how Donny wants to set up the playoff run

It's been hard coming here since the playoffs . . . and now Bergy. Too many missed opportunities.

Still hoping DK comes back. I'd say we then have three 2 A/B Centers and Geekie on 4th line.

Not sure who would be that matchup Center needed in a shutdown role - guess it would depend on linemates.

Yes Bergy is HOF, but I think DK would bring more to that 1ST PP. Bergy's bumper spot was too easy to defend and I think DK has a better shot and better passer.

I don't mean to be unkind, but really, why on earth would David come back?

Like Patrice, he was hampered by injury leading up to round one, and unfortunately, both played poorly. I don't believe David has much NHL caliber play left in the tank.

Patrice has retired, so it wouldn't be about "running it back" to pursue a Cup.

Even if he did return, apparently that would be in December or January. A needless disruption. No thank you.

I have nothing against Krejci, and appreciate all he gave to the B's, which often went unheralded, especially with a revolving door at wing.

Good luck to him.

Possible you’re mistaking the hockey news with the hockey writers? One is long legit and the other a cheesy business model that you’ve potentially fallen for (banking on mistaken identity by readers)
opps yeah hockeywriters, is what I meant my mistake.

I think the play is to let Lindholm (Calgary version) know how much we want him through illegal channels (Lindholm Bruins versions) that subvert tampering rules and grab him in Free agency in 2024 and not lose anything. Sure Calgary will trade him either this summer or at the trade deadline but he sure can choose for himself where he wants to play in 2024, he's earned the right.

Does everyone really want to pay Elias Lindholm $9-$10M a year for his 30s?

Caps going up dramatically rumour has it over the next bunch of years,, will even make Chuckies $9.5M look good ..and Coyle will look like a bargain! (That was in reply to the above comment ..quote didn't seem to work)

Steep but his comparisons have always been Bergeron.

I haven't watched enough of Lindholm to form an opinion.

How often do top tier UFA centers in this situation present itself? A centerman more than likely not resigning with Calgary and whereby the organization's mandate is to move UFAs out.

These two sentences back to back are pretty funny. DOES HE HAVE THE STONES?! OH, BUT HE BETTER NOT GIVE UP ANYTHING GOOD. lol

That’s because I’m talking about how he should trade Marchand and Linus. As I’ve said, make anyone available who likely won’t be on the team in 2 years and build around pastrnak/McAvoy/Lindholm/swayman.

Debrusk fits that age group. So I’d keep him, while moving Marchand and Linus for picks over the next calendar year.

@MarchysNoseKnows you want to know why I repeat myself? Because the one post where I don’t, this happens.

I think every single person on the board is well aware of your crusade to trade Marchand at this point, as asinine an idea that it is.

Marchand is a depreciating asset.

If Boston is going to keep him and ride it to the end then they might as well go out and get a guy like Lindholm (assuming there are no other 1Cs available that haven't been made public)and maximize his remaining year(s?) as a legitimate top 6er.

Either go for it again and empty the already bare cupboards or sell.

I would've been ok selling a few seasons back as I've said multiple times. With hindsight I would've missed out on a record setting regular season and a first round knockout but that's a miss id be ok with.

We agree that if healthy, Coyle should have a career year, right?

So something like 20 goals and 60 pts. IF healthy.

If he does that, his contract is very tasty.

Oh I know, you repeat the same bad idea over and over and don't listen to people.

The goalie market is bad this year. Full stop. You ain't getting shit for Linus... especially on July 27th. You heard all the same pressers and comments after last season I did. They OBVIOUSLY checked the market and it was bad. You can't wish a good market into existence.

No - they didn't get through round 1 with Bergeron this year, i would rather not trade all remaining prospect/draft value in the system to have a worse version of 37 making $9m through his age 37 season

It's going to have to be a bridge year.. nothing wrong with that. They'll lose a bunch more games. Other options will present themselves over the next year or two, likely including options to trade for guys who aren't entering FA next season. No need to overreact in July in my opinion

With how much the cap is going to be going up year over year now you wonder how expensive 9m is going to look in two years.
