Oh I know, you repeat the same bad idea over and over and don't listen to people.

The goalie market is bad this year. Full stop. You ain't getting shit for Linus... especially on July 27th. You heard all the same pressers and comments after last season I did. They OBVIOUSLY checked the market and it was bad. You can't wish a good market into existence.

That’s why I said over the next calendar year to give them more time

Charlie M ... is he earning his $9.5M? Sometimes you have to pay a guy to stay, that includes Lindholm if you want him in FA. We have literally almost no high end prospects including Poitras....who I got to see live many times as he plays for my home town unless he packs on 30 pounds and stops cheating at his defensive zone blue line to gain OHL points at the expense of defense. If we are paying Chuckie $9.5M why not Lindholm? Hell, Nylander is going to get $9.5M.

I wouldn’t want to give that to Horvat either. And by all accounts Lindholm will be above Horvat

With next years cap expected to jump $4 million, a $8.5 million hit would be 9.7% of the Bruins cap space. That CH% would rank 27th among NHL centers. If you want to bring in a 1C you're going to need to pay out.

He’s a top 5 defenseman in the NHL, so I’d say yes?

I don't agree with that at all.

Curious to know why?

Since Coyle became a Boston Bruin, his TOI/G is 16:52 (with huge chunks being on the kill). His PP TOI/GP is 1:25. That's obviously by virtue of who played ahead of him.

Those totals have got be jumping up significantly this year I'd think? What choice do they even have? He may be on the ice for more goals against. But invariably his trio is going to be on the ice for more goals scored than he's seen in a long time. Even just secondary assist are going to see his pt total climb. I don't know exactly who will be on his left (I guess JVR makes sense), but him and Debrusk are going to get every opportunity on offensive zone starts. He's also slated for PP1. When was he ever on PP1 before, consistently?

I'm not so sure, shit the bed pretty good in the playoffs multiple times. Don't get me wrong, I think he will eventually be a bargain at $9.5M just not last year, likely not next year but I hope he proves me wrong. He's good but he's not $3M better then Lindholm (Boston's version). Chuckie needs his boo boo Gryz so that almost makes his salary $13M.

I guess I'll lead this off...who do you think would be serious contenders for Lindholm in FA.

Bruins - could be the best team. Vezina goalie. Jack Adams coach. 60 goal scorer. Strong defense.

Wild - play with Kaprizov and Boldy. Lot of buyout $$ coming off year after

Blue Jackets - Reunion with Johnny Hockey, play with Laine. Defense looking really strong there.

Blackhawks - Play behind Bedard. Could fork over a ton of money.

Any other team jumping out at you? I like the Bruins chances but I felt the same about Hertl, Tavares, etc.
I’d rather try to get Lindholm now and eventually extend him.

Are you claiming he had a $9.5M take over a game playoffs?
No. But you’re claiming he’s not worth his money. Which is crazy. Athletic has him with the 9th best contract in the NHL.

And adding on a patronizing comment about Grizz who…wasn’t paired with him in the playoffs.

I'm claiming Lindholm (Calgary version) is every bit worth the same at Chuckie while you're saying $9.5M is way to much ..defensive bent Selke nominee centre who puts up the same points as Chuckie and likely contributes defensively the same as Chuckie and will likely get more points on Boston than Chuckie...at a time when we need a good centre. So if Chuckie in your mind is worth $9.5M then so is Lindholm (Calgary version).

I don’t agree with your equation at all.

explain why please
You’re comparing different positions.
Lindholm will turn 29 in December. McAvoy will turn 26 in December.
Centers are supposed to get more points than defensemen.
Lindholm would not come close to contributing as much defensively as an elite defenseman (not that he should, but that was your argument)
McAvoy is among the 5 best at his position in the league.
By your logic, Lindholm is worth as much as Caleb Makar.

It’s just not how any of this works. If I could get Lindholm for 4 years at $9.5M without giving up assets, no brainer.

To give up top level assets and pay him until he’s 37? Pass.

3 years difference isn't much, Lindholm (Calgary version) is still very much in his prime. I've also heard that good centres have more worth than other positions , I think perhaps you are overvaluing good defensemen such as Chuckie just because of he's "Top 10" according to stats (not top 5)..he's no trancendent defensment like Orr or Borque (or Brad Park for that matter). My logic has Lindholm (Calgary version) contributing just as much if not more than Chuckie. I've stated I want him in 2024 free agency and don't want to give up anything for him, I'd happily pay him $9.5 for 6-7 years and get 5 salary worthy years out of him, same as Chuckie except his years were early not in the latter years of the contract.

Three years difference is huge.

I’m not overrating McAvoy due to “stats” - his last two healthy years (before this one) he was top 5 in the Norris voting despite not scoring a ton of points. Who’s comparing him to Orr?

This is so weird.
