Sweeney reached the 20 man roster limit with 6 .2 mil to spare with Swayman/TFred/Lauko and possibly Bergy left.

Had posted this in another thread but worth discussing here too

They're bringing in a lot of veteran leadership in Looch, Shattenkirk, and JvR. Is it just coincidental, or an indictment of the existing leadership core of the team and perhaps a response to them folding like a cheap tent as soon as they faced some adversity in April?

or they are trying to move out money before announcing it

They probably had an Ullmark trade in the pipe and ready to go and then as soon as the Jarry contract dropped Sweeney was like HOLD UP and wants to increase the return.

No it s the other Brown, fcking Patrick Brown...wtf are beleive that Patrick Brown

I bet the logic is that we need an extra body at the bare league minimum AVV. Those rookies carry cap hits at like $950k, so it make sense to have someone even cheaper sitting in the press box.

If I have to choose to keep one I take Lauko over Freddy all day

I'm not sure about that but though he had his best season yet, I've less and less enamored of Frederic.

I don't think he does anything particularly well and if they let him go, I wouldn't mind.

Hope that's the case.

It's a drag for Linus, though. It's like dangling a piece of meat @ the market.

Those guys are place holders. They're not going to be here in a year (save Looch).

I doubt their acquisition has much to do with a lack of team leadership. If they can provide some, great.

Trade ullmark now if that the going rate for goalies should be a good return
Pittsburgh would’ve been way better off trading for Ullmark or Hellebuyck.
Dubas is Chiarelli Jr.
There's still teams out there looking for a true number one. Kings/Hawks/Jets once Hellebuyck is gone , possibly the Devils and I think the Oilers are kidding them selves if they think Skinner is their answer. Im sure Ullmark will never waive to go to the jets so I guess U can cross them off

Guess the Bruins got a little older and a little slower but will stay competitive. Almost felt like playing Hockey Manager cause guys like Parker Wotherspoon & Patrick Brown always are that the last to pick:)
At least Looch is back,
Too bad about Bertuzzi. They way I look at it nothing to show for 2 first rounder but also Taylor Hall.
The top quality took a big hit bigger than expected IMO. Trade Ullmark and sign Bert. No need for two starters, but maybe they aren't done yet.

I still want Ullmark and Grz/Forbort traded for cap reasons and to find a way to get Lindholm and Hanafin in the fold.

I don't know what's left out there for bottom pairing dmen. But honestly, Shattenkirk kind of scares me as the 3RHD. Maybe they think he can help with the PP?

Sweeney said at his presser that the issues in Bert's negotiation was both term and AAV, meaning we were never very close to signing him.
