First, this was talking about since 2018.

Second, the only way they miss every time is if you’re being willfully ignorant. Like calling Beecher a bust when he had to have his shoulder completely put back together and has only played one pro season.

Third, if you’re going to break it down like that, then add in the UDFAs they’ve signed, and add in the players they got for trading picks. Then you’d have a true picture.

But this really just comes back to you thinking they should have traded Bergeron, Marchand, Krejci, etc and tanked.

I never once said they should tank, I said they should have moved on from the older players and used those assets to build around the younger core of pasta, McAvoy swayman because I think that’s an incredibly solid base. There is a long history of teams not winning with top two centers at bergeron and krejcis age since 2021. You have to go back to the 1971 montral canadiens to find the one outlier who won.

A time tested losing formula.

I know it was since 2018 but it also applied to 2017 as well except where I pointed out thank god we have swayman because he’s the saving grace, but they have 0 nhl regular forwards or defenders starting with the 2017 draft. 6 drafts and the only NHL regular is a goalie. That’s terrible.

And yes beecher is bordering on a bust. He’s 22 and struggling to put up numbers in the AHL. The normal trajectory of a guy putting up .37 ppg in the AHL doesn’t usually fair well.

Sure let’s add in the UFAs, they’ve been good enough for a few first round bounces and a 2nd round bounce the last few years! Way to go Sweeney.

I do have to give him props for being open about it.
Oh for sure, no problem with him being open to it.

Just the wording felt so cringy. Every time I heard Brick said "get some flow in your lettuce", I couldn't tell if he came up with that or a marketing person did, but they had him say it every time, so someone thought it was a good idea.

Advertising, I guess it's memorable. But definitely not a positive memory for me.

Great point and probably the latter

This is a little unfair anyway, there’s not a ton of players outside of the top of the first round that have done much in the past several years. This might have more to do with the success and the veteran rosters the Bruins have had rather than their drafting.

But I have always thought we should try some younger guys in the bottom six more often than we do, would save cap space too.

Did you completely skip over the first part of my post where I said I think it has to do much more with the terrible asset management by Sweeney than the draft?

Because you pretty much just agreed with me. I’m putting much more blame on Sweeney having to give up assets to move guys like backes, Moore, beleskey and any others than I am on the draft. There would probably be better drafted players(hopefully) if we actually had those draft picks instead of having to trade away the picks to move out Sweeney’s bad FA signings

11.25 M hurts my eyes.
This is why when players talk about money, it's usually BS.

"I'd play for free", but while not an unearned or deserved contract, seems like a market value than a guy that's worried about the team around him.

I don't blame him, but just hate the "moneys not everything" attitude portrayed. Just be honest from the getgo.

I hope the price is right.
Considering other roster needs. Anything over a 1M seem like a bad usage of cap space.

Although I'm sure the Bruins will make enough back in jersey sales that it won't matter.

I have a feeling Donny can’t trade Gryz his father worked for Mr. Burns for 40 years. Orders from ownership hope I’m wrong
If there is any truth to this . It leaves me where I am ready to leave be being a Bruins fan after 50 plus years of loving this team. Trading Gryz is so necessary for the future of the Bruins

And see I feel the complete opposite.

I don't know how you replace Grzelcyk with anything on the free agent market. He wasn't the problem.

I really like a wait and see type approach with this team now. So today:

-Nobody gets more than 2 years, and ideally 1 year anywhere you can
-I wouldn't even make many trades. The value at the deadline or midyear when team's have LTIR open up is far superior. So sure, maybe you do Griz now. But I wouldn't do anyone else. We could be one of the big winners at the deadline this coming year
-I do like the idea of a tough team to help the young kids. So by all means get big and mean

And if the team surprises at plays well? Great! But at least we have some flexibility.

He has one year left on a very fair contract, and at most would return a 2nd rounder. Think you're being a but hyperbolic here.
