Wouldn’t this be fun…

March - Lindholm - Geekie
Lauko - Zacha - Pastrnak
JamesVR - Coyle - Lysell
Lucic - Beecher - Brown
X: Greer

Hanifin - McAvoy
Lindholm - Carlo
Zadorov - Shatnkirk
X: Zboril, Mitchelk

Ullmark - Swayman

DeBrusk and Frederic for Lindholm
Lohrei for Hanifin
Gryz for Zadorov ($1.8 retained)

$450k in cap space. A young energetic player on every line. Much improved physical play with Lucic, Brown and Zadorov. Much bigger D and a bigger team in general.

I guess a wild card spot would be fun.

I like it...

Questions - Will Brown actually make the team? I thought he was AHL bound? I admit don't know much about him? What does he do well? bad?

Since I was looking at jersey number history, I took the top 5 most worn #'s (there were some ties) and made a starting 5 based on the last person to wear the number:

Zacha - Studnicka - Hathaway
Lindholm - Carlo

Extras: Cehlarik & Fogarty

To be honest its not a terrible 5 to have. If you could upgrade Studnicka it'd be a solid group to throw out there. I guess you could also go Ceharlik - Zacha - Hathaway, but that just seems like a lateral move.

It'd be fun, but is that really enough for Lindholm & Hanifin? Lindholm is probaly close, but missing a smaller piece. Hanifin would need more than just Lohrei if you looking at other top tier d-men being moved (Hampus/Chychrun).

In my opinion, he's either the Nosek replacement or the AJ Greer of this season.

They signed him two years at one-way money. It's not with the intent to bolster their AHL squad. Not saying he couldn't end up there (if he made it through waivers - he's no stranger to being plucked off the wire), but that's not why the Bruins signed him.

Two attributes noted:
1. Great face off percentage. Which makes me think he's meant for the Nosek role. I gleamed this from his stats.
2. From other folks' scouting, apparently he's a real prick to play against. Which... Sounds good to me. But that's where I make the Greer "take a flier" comparison.

Sweeney said the team needed "Right handed center depth because after Coyle there was no one"

I agree with your assessment.

I like this lineup. I don't know if it would be successful. But you added a #1C, a guy Monty might trust more than Gryz (although I wouldn't say he's much better, I think he'd play a bigger role) and some real snarl to the blueline.

The lines are suspect (Geekie and Lauko in the top six doesn't exactly inspire confidence) But your concept of adding youth and energy to every line is excellent. And that's a team I would absolutely enjoy watching - sink or swim.

Also I think your values are no more than a tinker away from working.

I'll take that over what I consider to be the current throwaway season Sweeney has lined up.

EDIT: Hold on a sec! What did you do with Forbort? That's probably the best improvement you made!

I only make these trades if NH and EL are signing for at least 3 years with us.
We cannot afford to lose Lohrei if NH does not sign with us. I think Calgary would push for more than Lohrei from us.
We would be weak on the right side, Geekie/Lysell and Brown might score 35 goals between them all?

What is "right handed center depth?" What does he mean by that? Why does it matter how your center shoots? I'm genuinely asking.
I'm not an expert but my theory is the Bruins for years have coveted their centers being right handed. (Their drafts have certainly reflected some of this).

Balance is key but maybe for defensive faceoff purposes they prefer to keep a certain number of right handed centers on the team. Both Krejci and Bergeron were 1-2C for many many years. We've acquired Peverley, Coyle, Backes, Acciari, Nash as other examples of RH centers.

Insurance experience in case we have 2 black holes at center if our stars dk and bergy dont return that's all. I cant find anything else cheaper out there without massive trades unless poitras rips it up and takes the spot. Beecher looks like a bottom 6 guy .
Stastny is a bottom six guy.

Between Geekie, Brown, Frederic, Beecher, McLaughlin we can ice two bottom six centers even if Coyle is in the top six.

Aside from faceoffs (strong side draws on backhand) the other thing would be the skilled left winger that doesn't get the puck as much from his left shot center since its either a backhand pass or a slower move to the forehand.

The league source believed Dubas to be shopping for a backup plan if he’s not able to acquire Karlsson, but whether Dubas is moving on from Karlsson or looking for talent to reshape the roster is conjecture.

A Penguins team source confirmed Dubas to be interested in at least one offensive defenseman beyond Karlsson.

Sources indicated one name to keep an eye on is Boston Bruins defenseman Matt Grzelcyk, a left-handed puck-mover with a high hockey IQ and quick skates who makes good breakout passes but is only 5-foot-9. It should be noted Bruins GM Don Sweeney last week expressed exasperation with Grzelcyk trade rumors, chiding the Boston media.

Your right stastny wont move the needle it's a panic move in my part because the list of centers you have typed made me woof even more. Scary to go with centers zacha Coyle geekie and brown down the middle. There is no way come playoff time your passing round 1 without being deep down the middle. No friggin way.
