Penguins want gryz?

But what would that trade look like?

They have a bunch of centres but one is Crosby(not being traded) and one is Malkin (probably not being trade but he is 36 and not Crosby)
Outside of that do they have any legit assets to trade that would even make sense for Boston?

Not sure how the Pens are a fit for a trade with us for Grizz or EK for that matter.
They are over the cap by 2.3 million. Dubas says they will be compliant come Oct 9th, so there must be a plan to be moving someone like Smith/Rakell/Guentzel?
If we are trading with them, they have a nice young center in Sam Poulin that I would like us to get. He may not be 100 NHL ready next year at a #2 center but has a ton of upside.

Did u just pencil Lauko onto the second line? Lauko is my guy but I dunno about that….
He has a rationale for that.

The team doesn't have 6 top-six forwards. So you have to try to build each line with players that compliment each other and form a consistent identity through four lines.

Would this work? Dunno. But I like the idea, personally.

A pick and Cap space but I don’t know why they just wouldn’t sign Dumba.

I like it...

Questions - Will Brown actually make the team? I thought he was AHL bound? I admit don't know much about him? What does he do well? bad?
Brown signed a 2-year, 1 way contract, so I think they expect him to be on the team.

He's super physical, good defensively, can play wing or center and is very good at the dot. Not much offense, even for a a 4th liner.

I like this lineup. I don't know if it would be successful. But you added a #1C, a guy Monty might trust more than Gryz (although I wouldn't say he's much better, I think he'd play a bigger role) and some real snarl to the blueline.

The lines are suspect (Geekie and Lauko in the top six doesn't exactly inspire confidence) But your concept of adding youth and energy to every line is excellent. And that's a team I would absolutely enjoy watching - sink or swim.

Also I think your values are no more than a tinker away from working.

I'll take that over what I consider to be the current throwaway season Sweeney has lined up.

EDIT: Hold on a sec! What did you do with Forbort? That's probably the best improvement you made!
I left Forbort out hoping nobody would notice. :sarcasm:

If the value(s) were close I'd see what it would cost to get them to take on Forbort to make the money work.

I only make these trades if NH and EL are signing for at least 3 years with us.
We cannot afford to lose Lohrei if NH does not sign with us. I think Calgary would push for more than Lohrei from us.
We would be weak on the right side, Geekie/Lysell and Brown might score 35 goals between them all?
Yeah, I would assume they'd sign both. I don't know what Lindholm is looking for but you'd think Hanifin would be a lock to sign. He still lives in Norwood.

With regard to Geekie, I have visions of Marchand-Lindholm being able to elevate his game the way Marchand-Bergeron seemed to do with anyone they played with.

My hope is Lysell would be kind of the Hall on that 3rd line. The speedy puck carrier and zone entry guy.

What is "right handed center depth?" What does he mean by that? Why does it matter how your center shoots? I'm genuinely asking.
It's like pitching. Sometimes you want a righty to go in certain situations, and RH shots are becoming extinct.

For example, in the Dzone, a righty in the right corner can pull the puck to the corner (his strongest move) whereas a lefty has to go with a weaker move to get the puck into that safe zone.

Colt mentioned it a few weeks ago. Just some young legs to get in on the forecheck. I was trying to set it up so each line had a guy who was a good forechecker.

Plus, Monty has a thing for countrymen playing together (which I agree with).

Wouldn’t this be fun…

March - Lindholm - Geekie
Lauko - Zacha - Pastrnak
JamesVR - Coyle - Lysell
Lucic - Beecher - Brown
X: Greer

Hanifin - McAvoy
Lindholm - Carlo
Zadorov - Shatnkirk
X: Zboril, Mitchelk

Ullmark - Swayman

DeBrusk and Frederic for Lindholm
Lohrei for Hanifin
Gryz for Zadorov ($1.8 retained)

$450k in cap space. A young energetic player on every line. Much improved physical play with Lucic, Brown and Zadorov. Much bigger D and a bigger team in general.
Not impressed..........

In my opinion, he's either the Nosek replacement or the AJ Greer of this season.

They signed him two years at one-way money. It's not with the intent to bolster their AHL squad. Not saying he couldn't end up there (if he made it through waivers - he's no stranger to being plucked off the wire), but that's not why the Bruins signed him.

Two attributes noted:
1. Great face off percentage. Which makes me think he's meant for the Nosek role. I gleamed this from his stats.
2. From other folks' scouting, apparently he's a real prick to play against. Which... Sounds good to me. But that's where I make the Greer "take a flier" comparison.
My son is a huge Sens fan and watches all the games. His take on Brown is that he will not be missed. Is a 4th line Center with limited offense.

I have always liked Hanifin, think he would play even better for the B's. I liked what I saw of Geekie in the playoffs, can't say I know that much about him. I not sure Lysell is ready for the physical play in the NHL. I remember Pasta's first year and it seemed that he was getting hit to the ice every game due to lack of physical strength. He bulked up to 195 and is solid now. Lysell is listed at 176lbs and I would think he should be at 185 at least to handles the rigors of the NHL.

Really solid lineup. I like that it gives an opportunity for a lot of youth to step up and show what they got next to established NHL players that can help their progression and confidence. Well done and well thought out.

Noah cates has almost matched Frederic’s production in half as many career games.

Cates 98 games 47 points

Frederic 198 games 54 points
They‘re similar ages, had similar years production wise, and both had well above average defensive impacts. It’s a comparable. Never said Freddy is gonna get the exact same number.

always made sense for him to be going to a rebuilding team where he could get lots of playing time, plus playing with Hertl should give him a nice bump

Yea hes better off signing there than say Boston. Boston has playoff aspirations and if he stumbles early in the season he'd slide down the depth chart pretty quick.

San Jose can afford to let him play it out considering they don't look to be contending next year and don't have too many guys banging down the door to get into the lineup.

I don't want the guy, but fwiw,

I am a Sens fan too. My take is Brown is viewed as a 4th liner at best. No Sens HF poster has said they will miss him on the Sens roster. I was surprised Boston signed him for 2 years.
