Why don't I show you?

Speed, separation, IQ, hands, spatial awareness.

Plug our man Montreal here. The assist is gorgeous.

Look at that f***ing beauty.

Another plug for Montreal.

Liked the last video, great puck skills, good skating agility, but on the other ones his top speed seems average like last year and his backcheck rather lazy in the Wright mold. Those are only highlights though, would have to rewatch him in game play.

Haven’t watched him really, is he better than Cooley?

Picture this scenario. We take Michkov 4th overall. The next three seasons our youth develop well and we continue to add in the coming drafts.

Michkov comes in as an instant star on an ELC in 2026 and vaults is into contention when Suzuki is 27, Caufield/Dach are 25, Guhle is 24, Slafkovsy is 22, etc.

The wait would be excruciating, though we've been waiting since 1993 so what's another few years? :DD

No chance we draft top 4. I think we need to end the dream that we’re drafting top 5 this year unless we get incredibly fortunate with the lottery. We will be drafting 10-15 overall, this team is not bad enough to be bottom 5.

Actually, those are the reasons I wasn't high on him coming into this season, and preferred Moore over him. Moore plays more like Cooley - except slightly larger - with commitment all over the ice. Find Smith comes & goes, but he's brought consistency this year which has led to this offensive out burst, so that's a good start.

I'm going to wait & see on Smith though. Make sure it's not just an early season hot streak.

Any good C/RD available with a middle of the pack pick in this draft since they can't tank properly and will miss on all the franchise type talents?

Yes, I really like Riley Heidt, who plays for Prince George (WHL). He's worth a watch. He has everything you want in a center. Just beautiful to watch play hockey too.

If Florida's pick is late, there's some interesting power wingers in Lind (WHL) & Musty (OHL), we should be able to grab 25+.

Not a great D draft so far anyway. D will have to be 2nd round, and throughout rest of draft.

Not fully up on later round Euros yet.

Thanks I'll look into them for sure!

Did you watch a bit of USNDTP games so far?

well, we sled in the 2019 draft because of the lucky playoffs opportunity we got given.
After beating the penguins, We finished with 15th overall pick. Our team would have finished more in the 5-10th position without covid.

Finally , we drafted Caufield and he is a top 5 talent of that draft .

Winning because of Caufield, Suzuki, Ghule, Slaf can only be great for the org. a great player might fall in our lap even if we finish 10-15th.

Not a lot yet. Mostly from last season. The difference in production is night & day between Moore & Smith from last year to this year. They were similar statistically last year, but this year Smith has doubled up on Moore, who is still having a ppg season. It's just that Smith is having a 2 ppg season.

That's huge progression from him & not one seen often; however one person who did was Charlie McAvoy. His U17 season was nothing special, but his draft year he saw an offensive explosion.

It's just a weird thing. Ryan Chesley (2022) actually had a better U17 than McAvoy but couldn't bring that offense to U18. McAvoy didn't have much of an offensive game in U17 then really brought it to U18s.

Smith progression this year is crazy, unexpected. I definitely want to see if it's something that lasts.

Sucks that we're in the middle of rebuild with a chance at a franchise C and we'll miss out.
Really is.

Like the vast majority here, I can’t root for Hab losses when solid management is in place and building a winning culture is important. It’s a ground floor goal and they sure seem to be doing the right things.

OTOH, I/we want this club to win a Cup and it’s legit to want a top-flight difference-maker centre to join an increasingly interesting mix.

Yeah, it might be too soon but i think a top 5 pick this year (bedard, fantilli, carlsson, ect) and they’re probably making the playoffs next season or the other one after. It would change pretty much evertything and we already have the players to surround this high pick.

It was the next year actually, and we picked Guhle at 16. Your point still stands though!

Many of us are a bit down that a top five pick may been out of reach this year (it's very early though), but on the plus side, with Boston playing so well, it's very unlikely IMO that Florida wins the division this year. I think that pick will be around 20.
