Watched a bit of Stramel as Wisconsin was playing Ohio State, he's big and strong on his skates, not sure about the speed but will be an interesting player to watch as that could be a pretty bad team so he will get a lot of TOI and PP time.

Bedard with a goal & 2 assists with a period to go. He's at 18 pts in 9 games. Can he maintain that 2 ppg pace?
There's a decent chance he will. The kid is at a different level skill wise, the WHL level was already kinda easy for him as a 16 year old. Points won't be an issue all season, the true risk is him getting complacent or even lazy.

Only 3 WHL players have scored above 2 ppg in their draft year since the beginning of modern draft.

1. Dale Derkatch, a 5'5 smurf who also had an October birthday (so a year older) & who never played North American professional hockey: 2.67 ppg

2. Ray Whitney: 2.57 ppg

3. Mark Recchi: 2.48 ppg

After them

4. Pavel Brendl: 1.97 ppg
5. Modanno & Fleury: 1.95 ppg
6. Sakic: 1.85 ppg

With the exception of Brendl, they all played in the WHL in the 80s.

It would be the 1st time in 23 years in WHL, and only 2nd time in approximately 35 years if Bedard keeps up a 2 ppg pace.

Pretty sure Leo Carlsson would burn the WHL as well, kid is almost 1PPG in the SHL...

I love Bedard and would be ecstatic to get him, but Leo Carlsson is also an elite level talent who has the physical advantage on Bedard.

Call me crazy, but my #1 is Carlsson.

Carlsson is sure looking fantastic. Not ready to put him #1 quite yet. Both Carlsson & Bedard are setting standards for draft eligible players in their respective leagues.

Good thing we suck this year. Getting a top 2 pick would be unbelievable.

He's playing lights out. I wouldn't be surprised if he keeps up the same pace. It's the first time since 2012 I'm actually watching prospects games and junior hockey (aside from the WJC), I need to catch a game of that Carlsson boy.

Will Smith seems to be a pretty decent player, but I'm wondering if the fact he slapped Chris Rock in the face might affect his draft status?

I'll see myself out

My god this draft is looking nuts.

Any of Carlson, Bedard, Fantilli would just be unreal. But even some of the others like Allen on defense would be massive as well.

Add in Floridas pick too. I can very easily see them finishing 3rd in the Atlantic, in which case they would likely play Toronto or Tampa in the 1st round. In either scenario, I think they get bounced just given how weak their defence is. In that case, we could very well be looking at a top 20 pick around 18-20 maybe which would be unreal.

Don't go full Grant McCagg, you never go full Grant McCagg.

It's looking like a race between Carlsson and Fantilli for the second overall pick. I'll be stoked to get either. It will be tough to get any of the top 3 though, a lottery win will probably be necessary. I've got Arizona firmly in last. But call me crazy I think we can do worse than Chicago if all falls into place. Let the battle begin!

This draft is stupid stacked. Unbelievable talent. If Florida comes in around 20 there is a real chance that we could get 2 top end talents. It has 2003 potential.

Yea it could rival 2003 for sure .

As a side note, 2015 also looking pretty stacked too though. Mcdavid, Eichel, Marner, Chabot, Barzal, Erikssom Ek, Rantanen, Werenski, Provorov, Meier, Connor, Boeser all in first round!! That’s like 8-10 all stars right there

Nevermind Aho, Cirelli and Hintz later

Well, ok, lets just say that Carlsson is my favorite prospect of the bunch without pencilling him #1 over Bedard, thats too early anyway. Maybe Im biaised because as I grew up in my teens, Peter Forsberg was my favorite hockey player and I see alot of him in Carlsson.
