I know it's still preseason, but I hope everyone who thought Habs wouldn't be a lottery team this year have come to grips on reality. Anyways this is not the draft to drop out of the top 10 of. Habs need to finally hit on a superior draft. Got lucky in 05, bad draft in 12, bad draft in 18, and jury is still out on 22 but I'm willing to bet all the money currently in my wallet that 23's top 5/10 will overshadow the previous 5 years AT LEAST

Getting a 3rd first rounder would be insane!
Not true how that happens to be honest as I don’t see Dadonov Drouin Hoffman Byron getting a 1st even with retention. Maybe from Dvorak but not sure if that’ll happen. I also really don’t see us trading Anderson either .

I think most likely option would be stockpile a few 2nds and then maybe trade up on draft day in the late 1st.
A resurrected Monahan could fetch that first if he plays well this year. But then begs the question do we decide to keep him long term instead?

Comparing Allen to Byram is a little nutso. You never watched Allen apparently.

Allen is a smaller Weber. His compete is the core of his skillset.
Byram is all skills, skating, IQ, much higher ceiling for Byram.

Dahlin and Byram are quite similar.
Allen reminds me of Jiricek a good bit actually.

No.

You've got Suzuki, Dach, Evans, Beck has shown he's got a spot. They still need to trade Dvorak and high percentage their first pick is a center.

I know his draft year is only in 2025 but Gabriel D'aigle had his 1st start and 1st win at 15 Sunday and was really solid. He's already 6'4 (will probably be 6'5/6'6 at 18) and look extremely calm in his net for a guy of his age. His athleticism are off chart

Quebec-born goaltenders need balls of steel for this market.
Oooh I agree at 100 %, but he has the Carey Price type of personality that nothing seem to bother him. I rarely saw a 15 yrs old kid that much calm.

It's premature since his draft year is only in 3 yrs but he really look like the real deal

If its in later rounds sure, but IMO the goalie needs to be foreign.

I still want Michkov really badly even if he would come like 4 years later. It worked out fine for Kaprizov and it will work out fine for us.

I hope we win the loto and there isn't discussion about Michkov during many months. If we pick 2-5, I bet hockey talk will be all about "if" Michkov falls, do we pick him? Do we pick him at 2?

Maybe picking Michkov would be a great pick, but maybe we'll need a good player faster. I guess it'll be easier to appreciate what would be the right thing to do once the season is over and we know a bit more about what we have with Dach, Slaf, Guhle and co.

Best QC talent in the net since Fleury but a lot can happen in the next 3 yrs

There was a time when I felt that about Fucale until it became clear that he was just super technically proficient at that level and never got any better as an athlete.

I haven't watched this kid yet, who does he play for? I'll make sure I catch his game when he comes to Halifax.

So Bedard 2023, Khiviharju in 2024 & D'aigle 2025.

Rebuild complete.

For Victoriaville Tigers, He is at an other level then Fucale just by size and athleticism

her is a clip of his summer training with MAF that was post in prospect thread

But Fucale was not even average in size (and he became an NHL goaltender, maybe). D'Aigle is 1 standard of deviation larger than average by NHL Standards at 15!
