A 17 yrs on a minor role rarely perform a lot with Team Canada.. Just look at MacKinnonI wasn't impressed with Fantilli at the WJC, for whatever it's worth..
WJC is the best way to Overvalue or undervalue a prospect

Remember when Poehling was name the Habs best prospect before Suzuki because of their WJC performance ?Honestly, it isn't really worth anything.
It's only really good to gauge specific things.. mainly progress in traits.

I remember after that 2012 draft, most posters (even on the main boards) said we had the best draft on paper.I still remember Danny Kristo, Sebastian Collberg, etc. being hyped because of the WJC while Galchenyuk, Caufield, Suzuki were all kinda under/poorly used and underwhelming.
I personally don't see any real or alternate universe where Fantilli tops out as a 40-50 point guy. He just finished one of the best NCAA freshmen seasons of all time and has way too much speed, skill and grit to not be a top line player. He's just too damn good.As to Fantilli vs Carlson bust potential it has to be Fantilli IMO. Carlson looks legitimately fantastic in a very good men's league, where 18 year olds seldom even hold their own. He's got literally everything, and he has a ton of room to grow still. For me at least, there is seldom a prospect I'm LESS sure of being a great player.
Maybe Fantilli will be a great player too, and I'm not even saying I wouldn't take him at 2, but he is reminding me a little bit of the profile of Lafreniere, Byfield, Svechnikov kind of players in their draft seasons. Obviously Svechnikov turned out good and the other 2 are to be determined but they're all guys who were practically fully developed men at 17 dominating junior/college leagues with their superior physical traits. They very well might have high IQ or skill levels on top of that like Svechnikov but they don't need to rely on it as much in those leagues so it's a bit harder to be sure.
Even though he's a much different style of player, I even include Drouin in this category. He is still a decently talented NHL player, but he was fully developed physically in his draft season and was able to demolish his competition to the extent that scouts couldn't see that he didn't actually have a head for the game. I really don't think Drouin is an improved player today from the day he was drafted.
Not saying this will happen with Fantilli, just that I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest to see him top out as a, still valuable, 40-50 point guy.
That's because HF sees the main/average list and have their own idea and anyone drafted significantly lower than their averaged rank is automatically a steal here.I remember after that 2012 draft, most posters (even on the main boards) said we had the best draft on paper.
Look at us 10 years later:
Alex Galchenyuk
Sebastien Collberg
Dalton Thrower
Tim Bozon
Brady Vail
Charles Hudon
Erik Nystrom
Needless to say, that draft set us back quite a bit.
The only good news is that management ended up trading Collberg for Vanek which was kind of fun for the 2014 playoffs, and we did end up turning Galchenyuk into Domi into Anderson who could bring us back another 1st round pick at one point.
Well I would agree of course. The same sort of thing could have been said about Lafreniere is what I'm getting at. Granted NCAA is a different beast than the Q.I personally don't see any real or alternate universe where Fantilli tops out as a 40-50 point guy. He just finished one of the best NCAA freshmen seasons of all time and has way too much speed, skill and grit to not be a top line player. He's just too damn good.
We said the same thing about Laffy. Both Leo Carlsson and Adam Fantilli would succeed in the NHL even with the duo Bergevin-Therrien…
I really don’t see any bust potential in any of those guys
I don't think Laf is a bust yet personally and I prefer the tools of those guysWe said the same thing about Laffy.
Reality is, there's bust factor in every players.
Pitt will easy win is 2 remaining games agains CHI and CLB, they will make the playoff.
NYI will beat the Habs Tomorow.
Now Florida needs to loose agains Carolina if not they are 100% making the playoff and that would suck.
Big gamble here.....
yeah but this game does nothing for them , they might as well bench their best player so they can rest for the playoff.Good thing Les Hurricanes De La Caroline are the 2nd best team in the NHL...
yeah but this game does nothing for them , they might as well bench their best player so they can rest for the playoff.
Don't think they really wanna win this game.
That's where Kotkaniemi pulls through with a big 4 points game, pulls up the four while looking at Bergevin, one last time.yeah but this game does nothing for them , they might as well bench their best player so they can rest for the playoff.
Don't think they really wanna win this game.
or boston ..If FLA wins, doesn't CAR play them?
I doubt CAR wants to play FLA in round 1.....
Isn't that incentive?
or boston ..
Would you rather play agains Pitt or NYI or Florida.
imo Florida is the better team so in this case you have a point

I'd love for Pittsburgh to get in because I wanna see more Sid, but also because it's good for the Panthers pick.
Can confirmI believe goalkeeper Gabriel D'Aigle of Victoriaville (QMJHL) has already accepted
Bedard's agent might advise him not to play in either the WU18 or the WC before the draft. We shall see.U18 coaching staff named. We should start hearing about players accepting invitations.

Canada names coaching staff for IIHF Under-18 world championship | TSN
Jeff Truitt has been named the head coach for the upcoming IIHF Under-18 World Championship, Hockey Canada announced Tuesday.www.tsn.ca
Tournament starts April 20th, so only 9 days away.
I believe goalkeeper Gabriel D'Aigle of Victoriaville (QMJHL) has already accepted an invitation. Carson Bjarnason should also get an invite.
Goaltending should be good.
Defense: Caden Price, Lukas Dragicevic, Jordan Tourigny, probably Cam Allen, Carter Yakemchuk ('24), Tristan Bertucci is a pretty good start.
There's a ton of quality forwards to choose from, including Cristall, Barlow, Ritchie, Wood, Lardis, Howe ('24), Masse ('24), etc, etc.
Bedard is too good for this level probably WCs for him.
It should at least be a much better team than 2022.
Bedard's agent might advise him not to play in either the WU18 or the WC before the draft. We shall see.
