2023 NHL Entry Draft

It's crazy how I'm not even thinking of Bedard in this draft as our chances are slim regardless of where we finish. Don't get me wrong, I would LOVE to get Bedard, but I'm being realistic too. I really want a chance at Fantilli, Carlsson, Bedard or Smith. I love Michkov, but I'm an impatient asshole, and don't want to wait 3 years.
I guess you woke up this morning feeling really, really obvious.

This draft is so exciting. So many options with 2 high picks and likely some trades as well.

Fantilli would look so good on the habs. 90 point centre, and slots Suzuki better as a really good 2C.

Imagine a little Fantilli Benson combo

Dach - Fantilli - Benson
Slafkovsky- Suzuki - Caufield

For me what’s exciting, is that we have 4 top 6 forwards. With our 2 picks, we can complete the top 2 lines especially with an elite talent like Bedard, Fantilli or Carlsson.

Then it’s just about filling out the D but we are pretty set there and also figuring out the goalies.

If Michkov doesn't show up for the pre-draft testing in Buffalo, doesn't get interviewed in person and isn't present for the draft....you can't draft him in the top 12.

13 months ago at the start of the Ukraine war I wrote that Michkov will not get drafted in the top 5. I stand by it.

Geopolitics has change so much in the last year.

+ After his contract in 3 years, the KHL will offer him the moon.....maybe North of 6 millions ++++... versus 3 years at 950 000 in the NHL.

The KHL signed him at 16 years old....they will not wait to try to keep him a lot longer maybe even before the end of his contract

I would not be surprise to never see him in the NHL. The regime and the KHL will not let their best player cross the ocean so easy...

It s not 2005 anymore....

Anyone else worried that if Habs don’t finish bottom 3 or win the lottery that they’ll draft Reinbacher at 4+?

I feel like they NEED to finish bottom 3 to prevent themselves from making a huge error. Then again, no one knows how players will pan out, but at this moment, Reinbacher isn’t a top 5 pick.

Why?

If you get Michkov anywhere at 6+ you have to take him regardless of risk or politics or contract. That’s a legit top 3 talent you can’t let slide because you’re impatient. Kaprizov took awhile too

I keep getting 2nd place on Tankathon (which means absolutely nothing) but given the 2nd overall pick. Are we all on board that Fantili is the pick and not Leo Carlsson?

Carlsson seems more like a surefire Center compared to Fantili, is bigger and what he's already done in the Pro league is impressive at his age. I'd like the idea of getting the next Sundin on the Habs....

Fantili is talented no doubt but Michigan looks stacked ... I mean we can no doubt do worse than have Fantili Slafkovsky as our LWers .... but it was the assesment of multiple posters he'll end up at the wing in the NHL no?

I’m Fantilli all the way at 2nd.

Because there are better and higher ranked players at those spots.
Who and why are they better ?

I really wanted to rank Carlsson ahead of Fantilli but theres just no way that it happens in real life. Fantilli is very, very good.

He'll be fine at center. Same things were said about Cozens, and he's ppg at NHL level as a center. Fantilli will eat up the middle of the ice with his speed, and push back defenses.

He'll be in NHL next year, but I would ease him in as a 3rd line center to start behind Suzuki & Dach.

Well according to 14 of the various rankings of the main scouting services and sites, Reinbacher tops out at 15 on all the lists.

We have 8.5 and 8.8% to get 1 and 2 and then are odds are 5, 6 or 7

That's assuming we stay at 5. We also have more % to land 1 or 2 than getting 7.

So our odds are 5>6>2>1>7

Realistically, I think it's almost impossible to land Carlsson which is almost a write in for 3 especially if Florida remains that deep within the standings. Getting the 3rd pick is almost impossible now which is a good thing because we've been cursed with that number anyways

I'd expect 5,6,7 to be one of Benson, Smith or Reinbacher and 1 and 2 to be Bedard or Fantilli.

If we seal the 5th pick before the lotto, these are the players most likely to be drafted by us this summer which our first pick

I'd take Carlsson with ease but I'm resigned to the fact I'm alone in that.. just like I was one of very few who would have taken Cooley at 1.

So... what youre telling us is that, you don't really know anything that would set the players apart. You just used a list.
